I don't get this. My parents are poor because my mom got cancer and lupus. My dad fell ill with kidney failure and has been dealing with it for about 10 years now. The bills from hospital has put them in debt and ruined their credit. The healthcare system just doesn't work for them and Obamacare for all its positives has only worsened their position. Don't just sit there and tell me that my parents should be working harder when they're too ill to work and unable to get any financial help at all.

Either way, the system just doesn't work for poor people. The problem all goes back to how the economy rewards the rich more than the middle class or the poor. Working hard doesn't solve the problem of the living wage nor the fact that inflation far exceeds the value of the dollar earned via wages.

Just look if you make an income from employment at a job you get 25+% in taxes taken out of your check. If your money comes from gambling in the stock markets you get 15% taxes taken out of whatever income you make.
There are structural advantages to being born wealthy or being wealthy at any capacity. To whom much is given much is expected. Your position isnt well thought out and is grossly oversimplified for the problem at hand. It also isn't a very efficient use of resources.
Of course there are advantages to being born wealthy. However, I do feel that if "poor" people got off their ass, and more importantly, made better decisions, they'd be better off. And yes, I am talking about able bodied people.

I would much rather my parents spend money on the neighborhood kids with awful diseases, lack of education and need for infrastructure instead of me, living in a big house in suburbia with everything I need to live a productive life.

You're always so quick to judge people (Michelle, Ivanka, Bernie) but honestly what really gives you to write to completely dismiss these people without anything to support your answers.
Neither Hillary nor Barack had all the policy answers when they first started their careers, but they learned and developed their platforms as they gained more experience.
The country would be lucky if Michelle ever decided to run for office (she won't)
Thousands of people graduate from the Ivy's every year. Doesn't qualify them to be President. I don't know what you're talking about with "judging people". I love Michelle and Ivanka. Think they're both good at what they do but the reality is they are not fit to be President. Again, they have absolutely no experience and we know zero about their policies. So I highly doubt we'd be lucky to have Michelle run. I do hate Bernie, as he is not a smart man and much too big for his britches, but that's neither here nor there. I did not support Barack in 2008 and I don't think you need to have all of the answers. However, you do need to have SOME type of relevant qualifications. Hillary is unique in that she has a wealth of qualifications, intellect and experience in several different sections of Government.
Yeah I agree. And I didn't mean literally run. I'm saying if Michelle is POTUS so will Obama. Much like it'll be Bill Clinton 90s again under a Hillary administration. Ironic cuz Hillary was the "real" president back then behind the scenes according to dozens of insiders.
Hillary was the policy wonk of that dynamic duo...Bill was the master communicator.
I think Obama has his sights set on a SCOTUS appointment...of course the Democrats would have to have everything go right for that to happen. But in your land of hypotheticals that's gonna happen, right Maxxy?
It also makes sense for Hillary to nominate Obama for SCOTUS at some point as political favor for Obama supporting her in the election.
No one wants Obama as Supreme Court, and he'll have to recuse himself from most cases since the cases we'll be debating about for decades will have to do with the policies he and Hillary created.
And yes Democrats are going to get what we want come January seeing as we'll win over 30 states.

Mess. This is total victim blaming and fails to acknowledge the fact that systemic inequalities (and, perhaps just as importantly, inequities) are the real factor behind the generation of these "poor" people you speak of. You're narrowly looking at a symptom and not trying to underpin the real problem society has - and we know it has.
This is before we even start talking about the fact that institutionalized racism hammers this home even further for some ethnic groups.
When you say things that you know are false, that's considered trolling.

Families born into the middle class can barely survive today's economy. Duh!!!! What do you think this election has been about for a year now? So what makes you think a family, especially those already left behind in certain zip codes, born into poverty will have a better chance of making it in America??? This "get off your asses" **** is stupid because when they do so they'll either work starvation wage of $7.25 or go to college and be thousands in debt. Worse off than when they were getting governmental assistance.

William Howard Taft was president and then supreme court justice...if Hillary gets her liberal judges like you hypothesis then that won be a problem. Obama would still have influence on the other judges, n get to make judgements on other cases.
....and hey it's not a bad job to have either.
Obama would relish it. He'd get to stay in the limelight too.

You see THIS IS TROLLING. One you do know if Hillary is elected then she appoints the 5th liberal judge right? This isn't my hypothesis. This is a fact that scares the hell out of every Republican.
And I know Obama. He wouldn't do that, and has no plan to be SCOTUS. And no Congress or American electorate would stand for that in the 21st century. It's unethical, and I'm ashamed you think that our current president would do something borderline illegal.
When you say things that you know are false, that's considered trolling.
No...I say things as some in the electorate actually believe it. Not everybody is a so called intellectual.
Some people actually worry about their second amendment rights getting took away, some people believe that abortion is wrong, and a sin, or that the government is too intrusive in our lives...
YOU just can't dismiss people that have a different viewpoint than you as trolls.

Not to mention poverty is a multi-dimensional issue which intersects with things such as race and gender. It's ludicrous to say that poor people need to "get off their asses" when such an assertion does nothing to help minorities such as black and latino people who are also up against institutional racism that results in the average person from these communities being worse off than the average American. What does "getting off one's ass" do to change that?

I'm not talking about you or your views.
When Beautiful Liar says Hillary is anti-women and anti-gay because she takes money from countries that historically governs that way, THAT'S TROLLING because you know she's anything of the sort and that all of that money has helped millions with AIDS. IT'S TROLLING when you say she has a health problem because a video you know was just her nodding her head laughing. IT'S TROLLING when you come in all the time saying and linking to things that obviously is satire blogs and when we call you out, it's "liberal bias" on our part.
Of course there are problems that the middle class face. But I do think everyone has it in them to succeed if they truly want too. And of course, it's about starting early. If you make poor decisions for your entire adult life and then find yourself struggling to get by at 42, of course it'll be harder. As for college (and work in general, really), I'm a pound the pavement kind of girl. If you have at least a bacherlors, you can find SOME piece of employment. It may not be perfect, but you work your way up. If company A doesn't hire you, apply to company B. And then C, D, E, F, G. And if that means you have to apply to every company in your field, DO IT.

I, as a black person, have MANY thoughts on the black community. We have so many problems. And unfortunately, I think our own mindset has landed us where we are today. We're underachievers. We don't have a sense of personal responsibility. Again, I think a lot of this comes down to poor decision making.

When you're a 15-16 year old who stays in the hood seeing drugs and crime 24/7, parents barely make $40K a year combined, sees an innocent black man being shot and nothing is done to prevent it again and you go to a terrible school and learn about the terrible things that has happened to people like you, it's hard to see a bright version that others in America see. It's all about perspective, and a lot of you fail to realize that.
It's funny because the people on food stamps and governmental assistance are the same ones who bash it, and blame government for their problems. And guess who these people are, white people from the Rust Belts that's voting for Trump. We're offering them solutions that will help them who can't help themselves. That's why I'm a proud liberal. I care for people who don't even care about me or themselves. It's our job.

You're totally ignoring the fact that if people don't have an equal (or at least a closer to equal) socio-economic playing field to build upon in their life then they're not going to "succeed" equally.
In 2016, America is the most unequal it has ever been in history. The assertion that anyone can succeed in America if they put their mind to it is literally the most unrealistic it has ever been.

You do? You have coffee with Barack and Michelle every morning?
If you have a Democratic majority in the House and Senate it doesn't matter what the majority of the American public thinks...like with Obamacare, and the "If you like your Healthcare plan, you can keep it".
Get real...politicians do unethical things all the time. If Obama wants to be a SCOTUS and Hillary can make it happen...then it will happen. Like the deal Loretta Lynch was making with Bill Clinton on that plane in Arizona.
"You don't charge Hillary, n' I'll make you SCOTUS; Loretta"
That ^ was going to happen until that meddling reporter stuck their nose in where it didn't belong.

I think that there is such a victim mentality both within and pushed upon the black community that has truly stifled. Yes, the hood is a bad place. But I don't know exactly what we're waiting on. Are we waiting on a white President, Mayor, Governor -- whatever, to come save us? When is that 15-16 year old going to decide he wants a better life for himself? When does he say "NO, I won't drop out of school." "NO, I won't sell drugs." "NO, I won't SHOOT the kid down the street?" When are parents going to decide to instill certain values in their children? I know that I come off as condescending in regards to this issue but I truly do want to see the black community evolve. I just don't have the typical liberal view on how that happens.

No...If nothing else it is hypocritical on Hillary's part.
Now the rest I don't get into, cause that is just fluff...but as I said some voters actually believe that stuff is true. I mean Hillary is 68/69...I'm sure she has health problems, but so does Trump so that should cancel it out. You could use it as an attack against Hillary if Rubio was the nominee, but not with Trump...he's as old as she is.
