Lights Out was awful, the reviews were so misleading? C-grade production value, terrible writing/dialogue, and that child actor... dear god. The mother and daughter had pretty great acting but that's about all I could take away from that movie.
The ending felt so... out of place... inappropriate... I can't imagine it ever playing out that way, and it wasn't nearly as dramatic or effective as they intended it to be. And if it was all for the "metaphor" then that's pretty sad.
Do any of y'all remember a horror movie (well, more of a thriller) from 2013-2014 about a creepy boyfriend who is obsessed with his newly met girl and then kills the entire family (I think)? The main actor is blonde and looks like Calvin Harris if that helps.

Did y'all like The Witch? I've kinda given up on horror movies because I find all of the jumpscares to be really predictable, so I'm more of a fan of those which kind of make you creeped out or sth. I hope you understand what I mean.
I honestly thought that The Witch would be worse than it was. Maybe it's because my expectations were so low, but I was kind of digging the atmosphere and everything.

i loved it! probably the best horror movie i watched this year.
I watched a **** load of stuff recently so I'll recap:
The Conspiracy - meh. Not much to say about it really, just never really lifted off, found it dull.
Hush - A lot of fun, not out and out horror but a really enjoyable watch all the way through. Really like... satisfying? I was hyped after it finished.
Absentia - So so so good omg. Probably my favourite horror film of the past few years, can't recommend it enough.
Suspiria - Really crazy, ridiculously beautiful and actually pretty creepy. Its dreaminess sticks with you.
Cabin in the Woods - Interesting and fun film. I did find the character decisions towards the end frustrating though.
We Are Still Here - Very forgettable. I feel like it had arty pretensions that I wasn't prepared for going in but I was tired and could have been misreading it.
