Janet is a legend. Nothing will change that.

I refuse to act like the amount of ignorant comments and weak drag attempts bothers me in any way, because, at the end of the day, ignorance beguiles more ignorance and that isn't going to solve anything. You can educate yourself on her music, you can choose to like or dislike it, you can even refuse her accolades as having any merit, but you can't deny there are thousands of artists and performers out there right now who will attest to Janet being a key role in their artistry. Maybe it's because the lot of you are young and inexperienced and refused to learn the history of the music you listen to today, but you all need to respect every artist for what they are worth in this industry.

I said what it was like before joining ATRL. And to call me "ignorant" because Janet didn't had much impact in Europe is silly. I knew artists who are more older and legendary than Janet. I stated the facts and I wasn't trying to be shady or rude. It's just how it is
and I stated how since then I am getting into her music to see what's all the fuss about
I like Janet Jackson and she is amazing and talented performer, but she didn't make much impact and isn't remembered here

RIDICULOUS to think there are actually people here who genuinely think she isnt legendary.
But dont take them seriously, y'all. These are the same 12 year olds who are claiming beyonce is a legend, that beyonce can dance and that beyonce is a renowned rapper.

Beyonce rapped on the Carmen soundtrack / movie
why are you acting like it's something the hive made up?

Beyonce, release that rap album you’re hiding from us. We’re here for it and it needs to happen now. New members of the BeyHive may think Bey’s rhymes on “Feeling Myself” — yes, she rhymes along with Nicki, echoing her on the third verse — are a surprise, but fans devoted to team BeyHive know this has been years in the making.
Check her bars on the 2014 “Flawless (Remix),” for instance. “We escalating, up in this bitch like elevators / Of course sometimes s— go down / When it’s a billion dollars on an elevator,” she rhymes. What made those lines hit even harder than the fact she was finessing on the rap tip was the fact that she addressed the Solange and Jay Z elevator fight in a solid lyrical form. Bey’s been killing it in the booth better than some of your favorite rappers.

the rap section (which gets its own clip, “Ghosts,” in the video version) is delivered in the bug-out conversational vein of Kendrick Lamar, and who saw that coming? When do we get a full Beyoncé rap record?

like haven't you heard Diva, Ghost, Yonce, If looks Could Kill, Seduction, Feeling Myself, I Been On, Flawless remix, Standing On the Sun ?? Upgrade U? Back Up? Countdown? Hold Up?

Foremost is Beyoncé’s “Countdown,” which seems to have inspired many of the song’s half-rapped, half-sung cadences. (For example, listen to the way Eliza Schuyler ends two lines by emphasizing the words “stressin’” and “blessin’,” which sounds almost exactly like the way Beyoncé stresses the words “lip lockin’” and “keep flockin’.” Similarly, the way Eliza says “grind to the rhythm/ as we wine and dine,” emphasizing the internal rhyme, is reminiscent of the same way Beyoncé sings “grind up on it, girl, show ’em how you ride it.”) Eliza also uses counting (“one week later /… two weeks later …”) and repeatedly emphasizes how she is “down for the count.” Sure enough, Miranda included “Countdown” on his playlist of songs that inspired Hamilton.

“She was singing like a rapper. It was the first song with Wyclef, and she was singing really fast, and i was like, ‘Why is he singing so fast? How is she –’ and she was on key. I was like, ‘Oh, that’s a talented person right there?”

Tours are cute but when everything is said and done the music and videos will matter, not concerts.

You probably don't know anyone in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, who put her on the ballot for nomination last year - a ballot neither Mariah or Whitney have made!
It's understandable.

All of the ignorance in this thread
Janet was that bitch before Bey came along. I'll probably try to discredit her during the stan wars against Bey but I know the truth.
