They have journalism degree, more than what you can say for computer-warrior fans.
And the 'money' that studios want is not the money from fans. Its the money from general audiences. A studio would much rather cater to the GP than cater to fans.
There's a reason why DC underwent a massive reshuffle after BvS. Well received by fans, but an underperformance on the Box Office because the general audiences was not there for it. Still in the red for the movie.
What did you think I meant by fans? This isn't some niche little franchise, this is DC. This is tracking for a 140 million weekend. Do you really think general audiences aren't wanting to see this film? And that's a pretty bold assumption that all these clickbait *****s have journalism degrees :eyeroll: everything you're saying is based off of no evidence
Either way, this movie is set to make most of it's budget back this weekend alone. Unlike BvS, no one was expecting it to make a billion dollars. It'll probably make somewhere between 300 and 500 million. So it will take the W when it comes to the box office.
However, this makes me worried for everything post-Justice League. I wonder if the Flash production will be put on hold since it comes out 4 months after JL.

No evidence? Alright. Case in point: BvS. Sure, it opened big, just like Suicide Squad will, and just like most tentpole movies with big fanbases. But then, it dropped massively in its second week - by an unprecedented amount. BvS ended up with less than a x2.0 multiplier. That is an industry measure of horrible legs - i.e poor word of mouth, no return viewings. At the end of the day, Box Office for BvS topped out at 850 WW, 330 domestic. Thats nowhere NEAR what WB was expecting. It doesn't even cover the costs of the movie. The movie, without ancillary revenue, is still in the red. If you think WB is at all content, you're lying to yourself. There is a reason why there was a big reshuffle among top DC brass. They need to appeal beyond the fanbase. And general audiences did not enjoy it; hence the massive underperformance.
Suicide Squad will go down in the same fashion. Good opening week, sure. But thats where it stops. The evidence is there. You just choose to ignore it.
The FUMES over the critics dragging it Still going to see it though. Btw, BvS deserved all the negativity it got.
Like I'm not even rooting for it to fail, but the fumes, the conspiracy theories, the triggering and frothing at the mouth whenever Marvel is mentioned like the studio personally offended them and caused DC movies to be a failure with critics is beyond hilarious It's not that serious.
King Nolan ha power tho, his movies being the only thing still giving DC any critical credibility Maybe he should make another one
According to an LAtimes article it is $175 million
Probably another $125M or more in marketing (rough estimate since BvS had over $150M). So $600-650M to break even depending whether it's more successful domestically or WW. It might end up being more profitable than BvS depending on legs.
Chris said he enjoyed Independece Day 2, I could not believe it For someone as picky as he is, that came out of left field.
I generally have a similar opinion to Jeremy, this is a good review. So, we'll see.
I can't take the guy seriously since he embarrassed himself with that BvS scene rewrite. Those who can't do, teach and those who can't write, critique.
I enjoyed the movie, i don't if it's because of the critics that lowered my expectations but it was an entertaining movie unlike MoS or BvS (I slept at the movies while they were playing)
I don't get the no fun part tbh.
I'm also glad that I've only watch the 1st trailer because I realized they showed a lot, for example some of Harley's funny comments fell flat to me
hm... so do you think the general moviegoer will enjoy it? Tbh that's what matters as it drives WoM and what not. If this is able to be like Tarzan (bad reviews, pretty good opening/legs) then that'd be cool but the reviews for this will be pushed on every media outlet.
I expected BVS to be **** because Synder is ****
but I am rooting for this one, Ayer is a good director
and even though I usually agree with critic consensus.
I'm gonna go in on thursday and still be hopeful

I think so, it's so much better than BvS and MoS, just for the action and the humor imo
