So I wonder if Mega evolutions were supposed to be these alternate forms but the game mechanics couldn't handle the drastic differences in Pokemon types at the time they developed X&Y? So they altered the idea into an evolution?

Because Exeggcutor definitely looks like it could have been a Mega. I wonder what Exeggcute looks like too?

I wonder what other Pokemon will get new forms? Exeggutor makes sense but Sandshrew, Vulpix and Growlithe seems kinda random for Hawaii
