LOL
i'm laughin about da whole New Jack Swing sound
Teddy Riley is da king and innovator of da sound
Janet didn't create it, she jus excelled in it but honestly it was more TL & JJH sound, she honestly didn't have input other than song writing so lets not give her dat accolade, plus TL was using da same sounds for his wife, Karyn White, at da same time ... u gon say Karyn White has impact? lol
but goin back to da topic as to if Beyonce higher in legendary status then Janet, no she's not
jus da receipts alone disqualify Beyonce
when u run 18 consecutive top 10 hits and only Madonna is doin stuff liek dat, then u r untouchable
to be fair u need to compare peaks and honestly Beyonce can't touch Madonna, Mariah, Janet, & Whitney in dat order, Celine well dats questionable right there but da other ladies r da pop standard, da mount rushmore of pop ladies, and liek i said earlier, da way Rihanna is goin, she will over pass Beyonce and become this generations' legend, queen of pop
and what sucks is dat Beyonce has all thsi great critical praise for Lemonade and she can't even cross over with any song, plus she can't even hit number 1 on da R&B charts with her first two releases and Rihanna, who struggled hard to get any R&B airplay cuz she was seen as a pop girl at da beginning, is ruling both pop and R&B airwaves

aretha has more impact, respect and influence than all of them put together and she doesn't have any of those records they have
the HOF that is REFUSING to induct yall faves is already calling bey a rock legend and honoring her with exhibitions
If bey was seeking chart validation.. she would've put her album on spotify.
bey's CONSISTENT slayage for 19 years >>> these high peaks EARLY on into a career

Too bad 2016 was the year of comparison:
Anti vs Lemonade
Anti Tour vs FWT tour
and trust me, people have chosen the clear winner in both aspects. Rih can jump on Calvin's and Drake's d all the time, yet she will never match Bey's importance. But thanks for the effort
Rih is like the modern day Donna Summer -> releasing hits after hits, but failing to have major impact like some of her peers. She'll definitely be remembered tho for obvious reasons.

am i missing sth? Beyoncé best selling album was her debut album. Which makes her irrelevant in the legend category, bc a legendary act's biggest album cannot be their debut.
Beyoncé may be in the industry for 19 years, but as a solo artist she only exists since 2003.
Queen Madonna had consistency, having a studio album selling 15,5m copies 20 years after the debut. Céline had an album shifting 12 million copies 15 years after her debut, Mariah had an album sell 10 million copies 15 years after debut, Whitney had a 14 million selling album 14 years after debut. Janet had an album sell in excess of 8m copies almost 20 years after her debut as well.
All these ppl who claim truly legendary acts can't sell anymore, but are rather streamed.. well look at Adele or Taylor. Beyoncé simply doesn't have the material and never had the hype that the others had.

beyonce doesn't have any albums that failed to go platinum. noone else mentioned in the OP can claim that.
19 years into her career she is dropping her MOST critically acclaimed work and is on the BIGGEST tour of her career.
was mariah doing the same in 2009?

Not Madonna and Whitney, but she's far more important than the other 2.

Janet had a hand in the creation of new jack swing, now accept it and move on. It's not up for debate, and anyone in this thread sure as hell won't change facts.
Just because Beyoncé hasn't innovated a single thing in her career doesn't make it okay for her stans to try and erase others' achievements.

Lol, and stil Janet is mostly remembered for her Nipple Gate while Beyonce is used as a synonymy for perfection. Ironic, isn't it?

Who cares? Janet's career is 95% forgotten. She gets no airplay, nobody buys her tickets or albums anymore. She hasn't even reached 200M on vevo. Nobody cares about her. don't be mad because bey has already became the legend Janet should've became 12 years ago

lol how dare u even say Donna Summer had no impact, she revolutionized dance music with Giorgio Moroder
she practically invented the extended long play remix
ur argument is now invalid by da stupid comment u made

he didn't say she has no impact..he said in comparison to her peers.
not you taking it out of context just to disregard everything else he said.
I.E. donna was an exceptional vocalist..but she is rarely mentioned when ppl speak of the best female vocalists.

If Beyoncé is so powerful then where are her 20M selling albums? Why are her WW album sales less than RN1814 and janet. combined? Idgaf about vevo views when most of her videos with many views were deleted when she uploaded her music to vevo (later than most artists, and even though most of her singles aren't even on her vevo yet).
Stop directing the attention on the legends and what they have done and start talking about what your fave hasn't done. She hasn't left her mark on anything because everything she does has been done before and has next to no impact. That's why she is not legend and they are. Paying the media to lick your ass doesn't make you a legend, it makes you a briber.
I'm literally looking at the Control booklet right now. Janet co-produced every single song on the album. Try again and next time don't use wikipedia for receipts.

thank you! Donna was a superstar in the 70s, no doubt about it. She has a great catalog of amazing music, but I was aiming at impact, and there's a reason why Donna always kind of gets forgotten in the list of big cultural phenomena like Madonna, Whitney, Diana Ross, etc..

Poor Aretha, her career seems so null and void now. Thanks for the clarification. Who is Aretha anyways?

Dangerously in love and Sasha would've so far beyond RN if released in the Same era. And let's not act as if Janet isn't the only main popgirl of the 80s\90s that doesn't have a 20M seller
