Sometime in elementary school someone in either 5th or 6th grade died. I don't know who she was or how she died (I think it was some sort of health issue) but I remember that she died.
Can't recall anything else until HS. In HS the rugby coach died when his truck was hit by a train as he was crossing the tracks. The crossing doesn't seem to have any sort of indication if a train is coming, but all it does is connect the backs of two businesses.
In my junior year the school went on lockdown after another junior reported someone stabbed him. We were on lockdown for two hours before he revealed that he did it to himself. The creepy thing is he rode my bus
I don't know or remember anything else before I graduated. A Spanish teacher was killed in a car crash. 4 kids were killed in another crash with a minivan just moments before 2016 started. A fifth guy in the first car was injured but survived, as was everyone in the minivan. The five who survived were all wearing seatbelts; the other 4 weren't.
Also a kid on the football team was bullied because he was gay/bi and the coach knew and let it happen and even benched him. He committed suicide at the beginning of the year. The school didn't acknowledge his death until his family forced them to. The yearbook had a tribute to the 4 who died in the car crash but not him. I believe the reasoning for them not seemingly caring is because they don't want to glorify suicide or something stupid like that. IMO it would be much more effective at getting people the help they need and deserve. The parents complained and took it to the media but I don't think it got much traction sadly.
