Gay marriage aside, what about all the crazy stuff he says on a daily basis? The Mexican judge comment? The Star of David tweet? The sexist comments about Megyn Kelly and other women? The playing coy with David Duke? The rude childish insults he gives all his opponents? The complete lack of seriousness and professionalism? How would he handle a sensitive international crisis? How would he get on with foreign leaders? Doesn't any of this scare you?
I don't care much for being PC so the insults don't matter to me, and quite frankly, they shouldn't to any voter. What matters are the issues, not the rhetoric. His judge comment made sense - of course since Trump has been painted as anti-Mexico by the media the judge is going to be biased. It makes logical sense. The star of david tweet was out of bounds, yes. But as I said, I only agree with around 70% of what he says, which is far far far from 100%.
He's proven he can get along with Netanyahu and Putin - two very influential and powerful leaders. As for other nations, only time will tell. It's better than Hillary who does NOT get along with either Putin OR Netanyahu.
I can't remember where I saw the Trump supporting the SCOTUS - but regardless, when he's supported it since the 80s I highly doubt he's going to switch now. He congratulated Elton John on his marriage, he's tried to make it more accepted in our society for decades, and quite frankly, I think he had to out-conservative Cruz to win the primaries and now he's going to backpedal on his more ridiculous social issues.
***I am not a Trump supporter at all, but I think people really have a misconstrued picture of him
Trump has always been in favor of gay rights (unlike Hillary), and has said even this campaign that he respects the SCOTUS decision.
Abortion rights he has said should remain a state issue and the federal government should stay out of it.
We should not have immigration from the ME (other than Israel) until ISIS/Hamas/Hezbollah/etc. aren't as major threats anymore.
Illegals have no right to be in a country. That's why they're called ILLEGALs. Give them a path to work visas, and if they don't take that path, deport them.
I'd vote for Johnson any day because I agree with around 90% of what he says, but I still agree with around 70% of what Trump says and only around 50% of what Hillary says.
That's absurd when he's the candidate for the Republican Party who just adopted the most extreme anti-LGBT party platform in history. It includes language advocating for the Supreme Court ruling that legalized same sex marriage nationwide to be overturned. It includes language that states that it should be legal for businesses, adoption agencies, and health care providers to deny services to LGBTQ Americans on the basis of their sexual orientation. It includes language that states that according to republicans, "every child deserves a married mom and dad". It includes language that states that everyone should be forced to use the bathroom of their biological sex at birth and not be allowed to use the bathroom of the sex that they now identify with. It includes language staring that children raised by same sex parents are more likely to become drugs addicts. Perhaps most egregiously, it includes language that states that "conversion therapy" should be made legal for parents to force their children, who are defenseless minors, to go through.
Let all of that sink in for a moment. And then think about the fact that while Trump may appear slightly more pro LGBTQ than most of his fellow republicans, his campaign manager had stated to John Kasich while he was trying to get him to become Trump's VP, that he would be the most powerful VP in history, as Trump only really wants the title of president and doesn't actually want to govern. Think about that while you realize once again that he ended up picking Mike Pence as his VP candidate, so Pence would thus become "the most powerful Vice President in history" and would effectively control the policy and legislative agenda of a Trump administration. The same Mike Pence who is in favor of overturning same sex marriage, and who is in favor of federal funding for "conversion therapy" for minors, who is in favor of outlawing abortion even in the cases of rape, incest, and threat to the mothers life, and wants to completely defund Planned Parenthood, which is the only health care option for so many poor and minority women.
But I can imagine why you don't care about those things with the blatant xenophobia that you're in favor of. You must not care about other people, in general.

Oh believe me I think that Trump's comment about governing was terrifying, especially since Pence is the worst governor in the union (alongside Christie )
I'm not xenophobic - I'm against people coming into this country illegally just like any self-respecting person should be. I'm Arizonan - I have met hundreds of people who have immigrated to this country LEGALLY and are appalled that others are able to come here without putting in the same effort that they did. I have Canadian friends here on green cards to work, Mexican and Cuban ones who have become full citizens. It is possible to come here legally - Trump's wife did it, millions of hispanics did it - and we shouldn't accept the fact that there are millions of people here illegally. Simple as that. You wouldn't understand unless you lived in a border state and knew people who came here legally.
My girlfriend of many years is a first generation Lebanese American. My best friend moved to Saudi Arabia last year because his parents were hired as doctors. Both favor Trump because they know FIRSTHAND what dangers come from Syrian refugees. My girlfriend's family has seen their city (Beirut) destroyed from civil war and Hezbollah.
Also, regardless of what you think of his policies towards LGBTQ Americans, he is obviously in favor of them having equal rights. He congratulated Elton John, he supported gay marriage before even most liberals did, and his most honest moment of the entire night last night was this:
I've voted Dem, I've voted Rep, I've voted Libertarian. You should try to be more accepting of other views and look beyond the liberal bias just as I have looked beyond the three parties' biases, you might learn something. I was a diehard Democrat for a few years, then a diehard Republican, but I've learned to get my news from all sources rather than just one point of view. Honestly it's offensive that you assume I "don't care about other people" because I'm defending a candidate I don't even support.
The only way Gary Johnson makes that debate stage is if the Dems won't come out unified after the convention and/or Trump loses major support in the weeks ahead.

Or if he gets the Paul or Beck endorsements! Both have a lot of influence.

Like I said, the only way he reaches 15% is if the convention is terrible.
If he couldn't reach right after the primaries, before/after the Bernie endorsement, or the FBI mess then he's not taking away her support. Now that she picked Tim Kaine it may be easier for moderates to flock to their ticket. Party unification is upon us.
His best hope is the decline of Trump, but conservatives seems to be on board for the most part. The Bernie or Bust may flock to Jill Stein. That leaves little room for Gary to gain any more support.
A Bush is set to endorse him. That side of Republicans are desperate for a no Trump win.
Gary hinted Jeb will endorse. Jeb's aides denied it. But we'll see. That will piss Trump off, and take away focus of his message only making Gary more popular.

Told y'all not to trust Quinnipiac over the other polls. A lot of polls don't accurately sample minorities, especially Latinos. Tim Kaine better use that magic touch because if they turn out in Florida like the NBC poll suggests, Hillary will be president.
Hillary's so lucky (not lucky, smart if she did really plant Trump in the Republican party) Trump is her opponent. If "Romney and Ryan ticket" was happening this year she wouldn't be the frontrunner she is now.
I've come around to Kaine. It's still a terrible option because neither he or Clinton represent the future of the democratic party and picking him doubled down on everything people dislike about Hillary but whatever at this point. The Supreme Court is too important of an issue to hand over to republicans.
Just please don't run for re-election in 2020 though. Come at me all you want but there's a zero percent chance of them getting re-elected when Trump won't be on the ticket.
Fff. Now imagine Trump wins. 4 years later extreme Conservatives fill the Supreme Court. Gay marriage is repealed. Abortion rights repealed. Muslim immigration halted. Mass deportation of illegal immigrants. How would you now feel about your vote for Johnson?
Libertarians are mostly right-leaning, girl, none of this rhetoric would sway them. It'd maybe work on Green Party voters, but Libertarians are just a different shade of conservative and are usually even further to the right than Republicans when it comes to money and the economy. A typical Johnson voter is just as politically ignorant as a typical Trump voter if you base ignorance on a fear of the marginalized.

I was coming around to you after the primaries, but you're becoming more and more annoying.
Hillary will be a great president. Elizabeth, Bernie, or anyone else wouldn't make her administration any different. They didn't win the nomination. SHE DID. She isn't the future of the party. She IS the party. Either get on board or find another team. This is the party we are. Nothing is wrong with the "establishment" and I think it's about time y'all are called out for it.
