The theme for
Round 17 is...
Music Critique
First off, congratulations to all four of you for making it this far. This the last time you will be judged by the panel. It is not necessarily your last task of the season though as the final three castaways will have to fill out an interview with myself in order to sway the jurors to vote for you.
For the last three seasons, the final challenge has been to write a music review. Normally, I have done albums with about 11 tracks on them. This time, I've switched it up and decided to have you guys review EPs.
Remember 4 rounds back when you all made EPs? Yes? Well each one of you is going to review one of those entries this round.
There has been a minor trend where some artists release EPs as a taste-test for their full album. Later on, they release their full album including the tracks on the EP in addition to however many new tracks. That's what we're pretending is going on this round.
Basic Scenario:
All four of the artists who are being reviewed this round have decided to release EPs to give fans a taste of their new eras. Their full LPs will be released later on but for now, fans can see what their favorite artist's have in store for them this era.
You are each taking over the role of a music critic this round. Each of you are going to do a review of those EPs (which were made by castaways of this season). This review is a track-by-track review in which you analyze and critique the artist's material. Your review should be professional in the sense it should sound more like a Billboard music critic writing it than an iTunes review.
How do you distinguish the two? A music critic will have knowledge of the artist's previous material. They will have knowledge of who was involved on the project in addition to knowing how to describe a track's sonic nature. An iTunes reviewer would probably just point out the songs they liked/disliked and give very surface explanations as to why. There wouldn't be much background knowledge, if any.
Do not talk about how the artist should have put a different track on the album onto the EP. Those tracks do not even EXIST at this point. You are pretending like the only tracks from the era thus far are present on the EP. This is just about reviewing what has been given to you.
Also, this is not just a grammar competition. I get some of you are better writers than other whether it be a language barrier or any other reason. This is about what information and knowledge you bring to the table rather than just who has the best overall grammar.
Disclaimer:
This isn't really related to this round but more so about this upcoming Tribal Council. In the last three seasons, my Top 4 Tribal Council has resulted in a tie. I'm going to inform you all in advance what happens in that scenario so there's no questions when the time comes.
You know how I display your overall average in this game each results post? For those like Tom Vercetti, it was probably quite annoying to have his high average displayed as a reminder every round but this Tribal Council is when having a higher average can come in handy.
If there is a tie between two people, the person with the lowest overall average leaves the game. Normally, there'd be some sort of tiebreaker but because there are no more rounds left, that has been my rule for the last couple seasons.
Getting back to the task at hand, below is what each entry needs to have this round.
Requirements:
1. Artist Name + EP Title - .5 Pt.
You can rename the EP into something other than the album title but you do have to provide a cover so keep that in mind.
2. Your Name - .5 Pt.
By "Name".
3. EP Cover - .5 Pt.
You can insert more pictures into your entry but you must have a cover of some sort.
4. Intro - 1 Pt.
Write a little something that leads into your review. Background information to get into the main review.
5. Track-By-Track Review - 1 Pt.
For each track on your EP, you must describe, review, and rate the track. You can use whatever scale you want to rate. It can be out of 10, out of 5, out of stars, etc.
6. Hits & Misses - .5 Pt.
Name a song or two that one must download. Name a song or two that one can live without.
7. Overall Statement + Rating 1 Pt.
Sum up your thoughts on the EP and give an overall rating for the project.
The remaining 5 points will be given in a freestyle review by the panel based off what we like and don't like about your reviews.
Below are the EP's you'll be reviewing this round.
Example(s):
I have two examples for you guys this round. Both these people won this challenge in their respective seasons. They are album reviews so they're not the exact same thing you're doing
The first is -brian's review of Kylie Minogue's "Kiss Me Once" in S3.

I also have runner-up T-Swizz's review of Melanie Martinez's "Cry Baby" in S5. He actually used a website to make a real-looking magazine article. This obviously isn't expected but it was really cool visually so I think it deserves some shine as well. And no, you will not win this round by doing something similar. The writing is what truly matters.

The EPs:
I picked four artists who I could see potentially releasing EPs. For example, I found it weird for Bey or Rih to release EPs at this point in their careers so I didn't use those. Some of you have longer EPs than the others but it's really not a huge deal when it's a track or two in difference.

Winner of this round will be immune from elimination and also earn themselves a spot in the Finale. The other three castaways will be in danger of becoming the final juror of this season.
Good luck. I'll be awaiting your entries.
