They plan to be in post-production until March 2017 so to have a December release would mean to rush production which isn't good. Also there's a Star Wars related movie coming out in December, they better steer clear actually.

I think their July release is far, but fine. EDIT: They should change date, it's going up agaisnt a Christopher Nolan film.

While I think Valerian might win overseas since it's a war film, I think Dunkirk might win in the states. Anyways Besson is aware of it, and I guess he has some massive promo lined up cause this is a $180M production.

The filmmaker compared the impending box-office showdown to a race in which he would be competing with sprinting legend Usain Bolt. Besson knows he will lose but he wants to lose with honor, he told the Comic-Con crowd.
“You will feel my breath on your neck,” was his message to Nolan.
And that’s because Besson knows that he has something unique on his hands.
Everyone who was at the screening is raving about it already, and they didn't even see any finished scenes. All the scenes they saw still needed work in the visual effects department yet they all raved about the visuals, and how witty the movie is. I hope the rave reviews keeps pouring at the moment of release. That's what is going to determine this movie being a success or flop.

I'm mainly excited about this because this mean that we will get PROMO!

I hope they manage to get her on a late night show! Usually for big production like this all the stars are basically forced to go on late nights one after the other so let's pray for the Fallon interview we've all been wanting and a Car Pool Karaoke with James Corden and Cara.
