He obviously is a nice, chill guy behind the scenes. In public though, he actively cultivates his "crazy genius" image. From his album titles (My Beautiful
Dark Twisted Fantasy, Yeezus, The Life of Pablo) to any number of song titles and lyrics on his most recent album alone ("name one genius that ain't crazy") to his claims that he invented leather joggers, etc. That's also why he never really defended himself against Taylor when she lied about Famous, and why he pushed it even more by including Taylor in the Famous video.
Kanye aims to be outlandish and provocative, in the name of being a "crazy genius." It feeds his public image that fans eagerly buy into. Kanye is a crazy genius, so of course you should buy his album and then the sneakers too, so you can be like Kanye.
At the end of the day all of this is just publicity for both Taylor and Kanye. It won't negatively affect either of them.
I actually feel bad for her because she must be going through a rollercoaster of emotions.
