Welp, there you have it, kids. Big numbers are still very possible in 2016, no matter what the Kats say. So what's their excuse now? If JT can have the biggest sales week of the year with a soundtrack song, the argument about Rise not being her first single goes right out the window, as well. So why is Rise underperforming so badly?
Kats know everything so they better enlighten us asap.
Wow,kinda shocked katy's surprise release and all the promo only got her 130k sales unlike some of the other bigger releases this year! I mean it's not even in the top 10 biggest debuts of 2016 despite the fact that she just hit 90 MILLION followers on twitter!
britney jean's numbers are what i expected them to be so no surprise there rly

Exactly, britney did fine considering that nobody had huge expectations from her but Katy according to atrl is bigger than ever so 130K is really bad for the queen of pop.
I'm confident that she can recover from this when her next single drops tho
1) Lyrics wrote on the song, "don't be surprise, i will still rise"
2) Choose to release with Britney, so she can at least outsold brtiney and make her own sales look better
That's kind of disappointing for Katy with all the promo the song was getting. Britney deserves more for her song. Cheap thrills tho.
Digital sales are the pits these days. What a shame.
All things considered, digital sales are not that bad. Artists still open with amazing numbers.
I mean, the fact that nobody even has to buy music anymore because its all online yet every week there's about 1 million songs (in the U.S.) that are sold says something.

Yeah hopefully she wont further decline and will #RISE
MOTHER Sia punching a biT. Talent just keeps winning!
Someone explains me how it is possible for Make Me to end the first week with 90.000 copies (less than Pretty Girls) when it has already sold 75.000 (without streaming) in 2 days ?
Katy's song is legitimately terrible (and I love most of her singles/music even at its most basic) so I'm not surprised at how it's performing. she deserves it if it means she'll never inflict that nonsense on us again. Max Martin has some basic stuff in his discography but I'm in shock that he's responsible for something that terrible.
edit: mess i thought this was SYG oh well. i didn't mean this in a flamebaity way. i love Katheryn
