Yeah it's such a vicious cycle that will continue to get worse as these attacks trigger more and more racism. France is such a beautiful country and I hate that this is all happening.

Mass public gatherings like Bastille Day celebrations are going to require more security from now on, especially in major cities. It sucks and will cost taxpayers a fortune but that's the reality. More than one attacker = increased likelihood of pre-planning. French security services had issues with surveillance of potential terrorists in the recent past. There are too many to keep track of tbh. Obviously an attack like this is much harder to prevent, but as part of the overall bigger picture it shows they aren't finding it easy to keep a lid on it.

Believe me, the world is much safer now compared to the vast majority of history.

The human tragedies in the 21st century so far pale in comparison to those of the 20th. Moreover the advances in healthcare have been extraordinary. The surprise at these sorts of attacks is a reflection of our relative security in today's (western) world.

This event is a tragedy and the victims should be grieved but comments such as "what has the world come to?" are unhelpful and hysterical.
