The problem is with everyone. Getting a breakout hit for Tinashe is in everyone's best interest yet it hasn't happened. This song is not up to par, and I really wonder what's going on. Tinashe trying to kickstart the era last year screwed things up, but clearly Mike and RCA aren't much better. They KNOW it's now-or-never for her but this is what they put their money behind? Not a song with current hot producers, not a song following current trends, not a song written by her ala 2 On, but a ****** leftover song by two industry giants?! What a waste of time and money.

No one would be upset if the song was decent, but it's not! It's fine but not what she needs. Unless they are purposefully undercutting her chances so they can drop her after Joyride this is just dumb on everyone's behalf.

I am very torn about this, I am very biased on one side, because I have a weakness for Tinashe and basically love this. But on the other side also share my concerns that I am not sure if this is what she needs. If we learned anything from the Aquarius era and the first chapter of the Joyride era it is that RCA is incompotent. They really are convinced that a song can sell on a feature and one or two performances. She actually could have had a HUGE worldwide hit under her belt already with All My Friends, which did well in some countries, but could have been immense had the teams of Chance, Tinashe and Snakehips worked together and done interviews and performances around the globe to promote the song. At this point she needs something that will take off straight away and could be loved by critics and radio. I am personally not 100% convinced Superlove is that song. Ofcourse the song could suprise us and crossover and become a (small) succes, but the chances are also pretty high that this might not help to put the era back on track and would only postpone it even more. I love Tinashe and she is one fo my favorite artists atm, but I really have my doubts atm, while also bopping my *ss to Superlove.

it doesn't do a thing for me , because i go to Tinashe for R&B-hip-hop-leaning material that sounds kinda underground , sometimes unpolished , but always distinctly her.

the dramatics in this thread. i've been reading nothing but positivity from sites and on my twitter timeline. i think the success of this song will be how they push it.

i listened to it in the car and it got stuck in my head immediately, and i actually think it's her best mainstream effort if she's trying to crossover without completely dropping a soley pop song. it's got a little r&b bass with "my boo" homage and it's different for her. there's nothing wrong with the song and lets see how it performs first before everybody jumps the gun.

Tinashe should do whatevee she likes, she could even go independent and grow a fanbase with her authenticity

The problem she is compromising way too much . There is nothing wrong with her previous work. Her previous works with commercial appeal is what will take her to the top. She just need bigger and better production and excellent hooks and promotion to succeed. I think her and/or RCA (probably RCA) think the only way to get to the top is by abandoning a lot of her past sound and when her signature sound is the key to her succeeding. They think big producers will get her there and they are doing the exact opposite. All these big producers are giving her crap and saving their good stuff for the main girls. The only major producer (aside DJ mustard) that took a chance on tinashe is stargate and diplo. Two of the best crossover track on Aquarius where don't by Stargate (AHOD and feel like Vegas). She should work with the same producers she work on Aquarius but add diplo and add couple pop and hip pop producers and have all them work together we would have by now have a great crossover alternative R&B album. She need to stop going for something she is not . she need to just expand her sound by creating bigger and better records with crossover appeals. Most of the money they spend on recording this album could gone to promote it and she would have made it.


I truely believe this song with great promo will make it however.

My only constructive criticism is the production and the chorus lacks a lot and drag down the song a bit. also this sound to familiar to ciara music. Tinashe is much much better performer than ciary performance wise she will delivery ways ciara could never.

I hope all of yall support this song cause that is the only way will hear the joyride. You should know the stuff she has total control off with the smaller producers wont disappoint one bit and will scalp every hair follicles.

metro was a good look for her , diplo is a GREAT look for her , people in the alternative-electronic lane or prominent hip hop providers who wanna test their hand at a pop leaning track is what she needs

She was already independent before signing to RCA. She had put out three mixtapes (In Case We Die, Reverie and Black Water) around that time.
