No one said its ok, but its a far more complicated issue as its dealing with criminal activity in poor neighborhoods which requires more than just scrutiny and accountability. Its like comparing verbal abuse amongst deprived students to verbal abuse from teachers to students.
Neither should be tolerated but given that teachers are members of authority, employed and operating under a institution, there should be emphasis on scrutiny and it should be far easier to tackle their wrong doing.
Riots and political debate aren't going to have immediate impact on gang leaders from comitting crimes but it may make police more accountable and put in place laws which will help prevent future cases like this.
