people are allowed to have their opinions! in my view if your child wants to start being referenced as 'xe' or 'it', i would deeply be worried about their mental state
so it scares you that your child won't fit into the neat little box you want for them? Sounds like scared parents of a gay kid to me. Some parents even thing being gay is a mental illness. You're entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to question your opinion
imo, if you're just going to deny something your child feels then maybe you shouldn't be a parent. I see no difference from a homophobic parent claiming they will 'slap their child into being straight' or a transphobic parent saying, 'they were born [insert sex] so that makes them [insert sex]'. some of you guys are echoing these words. being a parent is all about willing to accept anything and make your child happy. because that's all that matters. even if you don't understand something, it doesn't matter because happiness and your child feeling safe and knowing they have a voice is all that counts in the end. and it's shocking to see these responses in a forum which 90% of members are LGBT and I'm sure you'd probably understand if you have homophobic parents.

they're really not. less than 100 years ago (and still some to this day) straight people were saying the same things about gay people that y'all are saying in here about genderneutral people.
Yes, I would. I can't say that I understand it and I'm still not sure of the notion of they/them, but as a parent I would want my child to help me understand. The door for conversation would always be open with me. My views are very progressive, any way.

Ot: yes I would regard their wishes. It would be hyporctical of me to try and change them when they are apart of the LGBT+ community. I don't really understand the whole gender netural thing but I would accept them
