But those didn't exist in Gen V, unless I'm missing something.

And if you're transferring to Gen VI you can always ask Bloo for a 6IV Ditto.

Well it didn't exist back then but I'm probably transferring this lil bugger to Gen 6 anyway, unless I decide to use him in the PWT before I transfer him.

I'm going through the hundreds of pre-Gen 6 pokemon I have on my cartridges now because you know the **** what, if I have more of these I forgot about. And the first thing I check is a Rhydon with 24-27 IVs all around, mess.

i just don't believe in such rigidity 20+ years into a children's game franchise, it doesn't seem that serious .. they'd probably get praised anyway for switching up the dynamic and making the battles more unpredictable / challenging

Just beat the game. Overall, I really enjoyed it. Despite some of the flaws I saw in the A.I and evil organization in X&Y, I still had fun. Bravo GF
For the E4, they were pretty easy to beat. I thought Drasna would be a lot stronger than she actually was. Diantha was ok. She's no Steven or Cynthia that's for sure. And the ending was cute with the whole celebration and battling AZ.

cuz most kids that i know that play pokemon (like my nephew) have a team of Pokemon that would look something like this battling the Elite Four

... so you see how making it more challenging and diversifying types would actually be bad for the sustained appeal to that core demographic.

I really wish as trainers we had to beat a Pokemon League style tournament before we could challenge the Elite 4 and the champion. I really want in game tournaments to be a part of the story instead of the post game. The Pokemon World Tournament in Black 2 and White 2 would be perfect, but less powerful trainers in the beginning for the story.

So I guess at some point I did try to make a competitive team, because so far I've found high-IV Rhydon, Glaceon, Skarmory, and Scyther, and for god knows what reason, a ridiculously well-bred Mothim.
