They're basing their promotional activities on 25 by Adele (album shortly after single) and the Superbowl hype (a la Beyonce).

And his AHS tea is definitely made up because they had already been shooting for 5 days when Orlando happened, so they couldn't have made any big theme changes or anything at that point.
