Heaven and hell are man made concepts to give meaning to the world back when education was sparse and illiteracy was common. It's also how religion came about.

This is kinda sad, but I'd agree with you. I think there's nothing after death, but I respect other people's opinions. For some people it can be scary that there's nothing, but I think it's a good thing. Aren't we just animals, but with developed brains thanks to evolution?

It differs from person to person but when the heart stops beating, your brain stops working and you're therefore medically unconscious.

In some cases, conscious awareness continues for a few minutes. Some hallucinate; see a bright light, a flash and/or the sun shining. Few recount an overwhelming sense of fear, as if you're drowning in water. Even less vividly depart from their bodies and can recall everything in the hospital as they're resuscitated.

Research on what happens when we die is still fairly new and undocumented however.

Religion predates the notions of heaven and hell and not all religions believe in them. Earlier religions didn't have an afterlife. Even in Abrahamic religions, belief in the afterlife is a very late development. It's actually quite the opposite. Belief in the afterlife had grown more. as humanity gained more and deeper understanding of existence.

Reincarnation is a Hindu concept and is actually not a positive thing which is intended to comfort those who are afraid of death. It basically means suffering-laden endless cycle of life, death, and rebirth. It's basically the Hindu version of eternal torment of Christianity. The goal in Hinduism is to avoid reincarnation and attain moksha instead.
