You can't just pick and choose what's a 'part' of her 'legacy'. Everything she puts out with her name on it, she is deeming good enough to be associated with her and what she does. A product is a product. She's not gonna just put out yet another club bangers/graphic sex songs album and say 'wait up guys, it doesn't count because IT'S NOT PART OF MY LEGACY, I can still write songs like The Knowledge, I promise!'
If songs like this aren't part of her legacy, then I guess her legacy ended when the Velvet Rope era did, since she's been putting stuff like this out for years now, and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Damita Jo is a multi-platinum album. 20. Y. O. is platinum. Discipline went gold. That's NOT your point. You like others just assume that Janet isn't doing well because she's not having blockbuster albums anymore. False. Her music isn't as bad as many think. Her tour was doing well until it stopped. According to boxscore, it ranked at least in the top 30, with half of the four reported shows in the top 20. Mind you this is without 9 other shows that weren't reported yet.

Reclaim? Darling, just look at all the female artists out now. Her legacy is continuing right before our eyes.

I'm only dramatic with the songs that I find really awful. Maybe if this was a Cassie song or a Christinia Milian song I wouldn't care so much, but this is JANET and I feel like it's too far below her standards.

Just out of curiosity what other artists do you listen to?

Alanis, Sheryl Crow, No Doubt, MGMT, Madonna, Rihanna, The Police, Kelis, Katy Perry, Amerie, Incubus, etc.
I place more value on melodies, lyrics, and composition. Falling in love with a song for its beats is like falling in love with a person for their looks. I want more than that, especially because melodies/harmonies are what Janet used to be noted for.

I hope this is released. The people who don't like this song can sit back down - just cheer for Janet when she gets her next top 20.

I DO NOT CARE ABOUT CERTIFICATIONS.
Those albums SOLD 1M, 650k, and less than 500k. Don't tell me what my point is and don't tell me what I assume. Janet's sales have been drastically declining each of the last albums, and the music has been getting worse. It is as bad as I know it is, because my ears heard it and I judged for my own self.
And her tour bombed, with less than $10 million in gross, and disappointing attendance besides the L.A. concert which she gave out free tickets for.

It's sad you ask for his favorite artists, JUST so you can laugh and ridicule him because you have nothing better to defend Janet's obvious failures.

I'm awaiting this new album, and song, but if it's like her last albums have been I know what to expect, and it won't be good.

Why are you so intent on proving that Janet hasn't been as successful as she used to be? What is your problem, seriously? The music hasn't been getting worse, not at all.
The tour had 13 shows and earned $9.9 million. That's disastrous? Beyonce's earned $74 million with 93 shows.

Madonna has built a huge arsenal of hits based on songs with beautiful melodies. I'm not defending Hard Candy.
I didn't become a Rihanna fan until GGGB--that album was built on great hooks, but Rated R is loaded with emotion, all of the songs are well-composed and honest.
Amerie is straight-up soul and she's all about melody. Both her and Kelis make some of the bravest, most creative R&B music out there.

I'm not. I said what I had to say, but your fellow stans couldn't just let it be. So, I'm going to make them understand until I'm done or they shut up. I believe the music's gotten worse, you don't have to.
And Beyonce isn't a touring artist, I know this.

Why are you so sure of yourself? Janet hasn't been very successful these past few eras and we can easily blame anything but the music.
Damita Jo:
Just A Little While couldn't even make the top 40. It was a REALLY good song and a perfect 1st single. It was an international hit, hitting the top 5 in Canada and the top 20 in majority of the markets. So why didn't it go top 40 in the States? You tell me. MTV didn't play her videos, radio didn't play her songs. She promoted it but it didn't help at all.
I Want You was ignored by radio.
All Nite was another awesome song and was once again overshadowed by that stupid controversy in the States.
Damita Jo sold well outside the US, hitting 1.4 million.
Need I say more?

Where's your receipts? Plus those #'s are her U.S. sales and Discipline has sold more than 500K in the United States. Just because Janet's sales aren't like her glory day it's in noway any indication that her music is bad. Just look at the top 10 on the charts. All the music Janet created in the last decade is clearly better than anything on there. Many LOVE to poke fun at her numbers but on her worst day she's way better than your favs.
Janet didn't give free tickets for the RWU tour. You're misinformed and cruising for bait.

Defend Janet? Hun, Janet is still creating lanes at 43 years old. She IS your favs favorite. Deal with it.
People give me this "Oh Janet isn't a legend anymore because she's making **** music" Her music trumps more than half the **** out now.
