It kinda is in their interests to be harsh though. Better to just lose Britain than lose the entire European Union, especially when it means an exodus of financial services from London to cities like Frankfurt.

If they give Britain a good deal there's literally nothing stopping France and a few other nations leaving the week after.

Not going to be easy. But they're not going to shut out a market of 65 million relatively affluent people, as much as they'd like to. It's not going to be all one way.

We know that Germany, the Netherland, Ireland and a few others will be reluctant for the UK to get a bad deal given their reliance on UK trade, but there are 27 countries in total and at the end of the day the most important thing to deter other countries from calling for referenda. No matter how much Merkel may want to continue German exporting to the UK tariff free, if the UK get a good deal and is allowed to succeed outside the EU, the EU will collapse and the whole continent will enter a deep recession and she knows that. The integrity of the European project as a whole will take priority over the maintenance of UK trade. Sorry.

Luckily Malaysia offerered to up their trade with the UK. Maybe you could up the import on bootstraps for the Welsh and Cornish.

I can't see anyone else leaving the EU. We were basically half out anyway, we had an exemption or different terms on many key fundamentals. If we're having a tough time of it, it'll be basically impossible for others to disintegrate.

Forcing us into recession will indirectly force themselves into recession. They want us to do well but not too well, and they'll do that by investing in Ireland from now on, or even better Scotland if they go independent.

Remember that these people have electorates to please. If Merkel doesn't get a good trade deal and her economy suffers because of it, her job will be on the line. Luckily for Juncker he has no need to worry about democracy!

Denmark has even more opt outs than the UK and is full of Eurosceptic rhetoric, especially in light of the migrant crisis.

Exactly. It's infuriating. But frankly, if they couldn't see that advantage, get over their internal squabbling and take over, then they don't deserve power. Bloody hell.

It looks like Scotland is getting a lot of EU support (watch the standing ovation video getting shared). If Sturgeon's negotiation in Brussels goes well and she feels Scotland has a guaranteed entrance to the EU then they'll be independent within the year. They'll want to ride the wave to minimise spend and capitalise on the uproar.

u guys have serious problem with lies in tabloids like dm and sun... u should be aware of it, they keep on reporting how no one in EU is taking Nicola S. serious yet she had the meeting with pretty much all the important EU officials... tbh I want uk out soon, cuz as long as u are in EU tabloids and media are going to blame EU for everything...
