It might actually be better for Katy to do another light pop era. She's always been the artist that you've just been able to have fun with and dance to no matter what. She's essentially the light in the darkness of pop. This year has been overwhelmingly dark so maybe she could capitalize on that and have another Teenage Dream level pop slayage era.
I do have my heart set on a darker era though, she missed her opportunity back in 2012 when people cared about her divorce to release a dark record and milk that whole situation. Imagine Wide Awake and Part of Me ending up as singles on a whole album that reflects Teenage Dream after you wake up... There was so much potential for Katy but she squandered it. Then again, PRISM was about rejecting that darkness and spreading love no matter what gets thrown your way... Katy really boxes herself in.
At the end of the day, I don't really care what Katy does as long as it's actually good and it's HER. I don't want her to try and get acclaim by trying to be someone she isn't. I just want another album full of Katy Perry.
