Will Jon's parentage even be that big a deal to the majority of casual watchers?? I get that it's massively important to avid fans of the books/show, but I think if that was the finale for the whole season, people would be disappointed.

If the popular theory is correct that would mean he's the rightful heir to the throne.

Show only watchers won't see/understand the connection and importance this has to the world of GoT. It would have to be developed further (which will obviously happen in the next 2 seasons) for his parentage to become a significant part of the overall ending/direction the show is heading.

Dany going to Westeros however, is arguably the most anticipated event that the show and books have been leading up to since we were first introduced to her character. It's big enough to be the season ending scene.
