It is set in stone October since that is when David Cameron is officially resigning, the party vote at the end of September and for two months before that the two candidates campaign for their election, and before that they need to actually pick the two candidates (probably May and Johnson)

I'll put this crudely - my parents work in an area full of benefit-scrounging uneducated racist idiots who all voted Leave, and they understood the NHS thing as a slogan rather than a pledge, so I think it's more of a confirmation bias of Remain thinking they've caught Leave out, even though it was plenty scrutinised and ridiculed at the time.

It would be a scandal and whichever party tried to overturn the result would be in the political wilderness for years with no hope of power. They're never going to risk long-term unpopularity with the public like that. It's just not realistic.gif

The majority of leave voters were Labour so does that mean a lot of conservatives are pro-european? If a Euro-positive? () person becomes PM a remain in the EU could very well happen, or even someone like Gove could change their mind and not trigger it depending on the situation in October

Conservatives were the majority of Leave voters, as far as I'm aware.

The Labour ones are considered to have lost the vote as they skewed far more to Leave than was expected - they needed 2/3 to vote Remain in order to win.

All the talk of old racists hijacking the referendum doesn't take into account that Labour voters did not pitch up for Remain as expected. Wasn't Birmingham only 55% Remain? It was unexpected results like that that swung it.

It's gonna be more of a fight for him than people think, his strength is with traditionally Labour voters which has been highly under-reported.

A few things that stand out to me- a majority of Leave voters said "the principle that decisions about the UK should be taken in the UK" was their main reason for Brexit. 63% of Labour voters voted to Remain, compared to 64% of SNP, so it seems like Jeremy isn't the disaster he's being made out to be (as usual)

That is incredibly messy. BBC saying it's because Benn was trying to recruit others to resign if Corbyn did not recognise the vote of no confidence from his party. So this can only snowball from here really nn

It's a shame, he's a genuinely decent guy, he doesn't deserve the crap he gets. I met him on work experience (briefly).
