Vika and Petra are done. They eerily remind me of Safin and Hewitt as transitional slam winners in between the Sampras and Federer era.
I hope Muguruza delivers with 20 slams in the next 10 years

Serena/Muguruza at RG felt like passing the torch. She played Serena at her own game and won.

There is a Maria Sharapova-shaped hole opening up at the top of women’s tennis but Garbiñe Muguruza could be the one to plug it. Prolific on the court and vendible off it, the Venezuelan-born Spaniard has amassed over US$6 million in prize money and reached a career high of number three in 2016 after losing the Wimbledon final to Serena Williams last year.
Like many of today’s young tennis players, Muguruza is an inveterate user of social media and her cheery disposition belies her aggression on the court. Spain, a perennial hotbed of male tennis talent, has lacked a female icon since the four-time Grand Slam winner Arantxa Sánchez Vicario retired in 2002. Muguruza, however, appears to have the charisma and on-court talent to step into that role effortlessly, too.
Aged 22, she has a personal endorsement portfolio that includes a long-term apparel deal with Adidas and a racquet deal with Babolat. Her other contracts are predominantly focused on Spain but with WME|IMG, some of the best agents in the tennis business, steering her commercial path, Muguruza is poised to become a bone fide international star. Get those endorsements, QUEEN.
The REAL heir to Serena's crown, and the real heir to Pova's corporation

Muguruza could have won Wimbledon too. She had the momentum going in the second set, but that last game was weird. She started creating 4 easy UEs, leading to Serena to win.
I think Mugu is either going to end up a 3-3 H2H with Serena, or 4-3. It's so eerie that these two only met at slams, and wins from both parties are hard fought, and no win was easy. This is the real deal.
PETRA, I AM DONE WITH YOU. Go retire. I am done putting up with you crap. At least Queen Garbine consolidates, works hard, and doesn't disappoint herself and her supporters. I'm joining the Mugu wagon now!

It's such a pity for Vika. That injury is still destroying her
She has so much potential and could have been a big star right now

That slip at Wimbledon 2013, pretty much ended her career. I USED to loathe her during the peak of Vika-Pova bitchfest, but now that the legends are gone, and with the likes of Bouchard being overhyped to the heavens, I have found appreciation now for Vika because she's a hard worker, and I bet she's very nice off-court and seems like a great friend to have... Pova on the other hand... cold on court.. freezing off court... And I stan for this bitch since 2004.
Sighs.. times are changing, and I'm very sad that things are going off into the wrong path.

I wouldn't mind if Muguruza was the next star of the WTA. She's not going to be up there with the greats though in terms of slams. Too mentally weak.
It will be another ten years before we see someone come along who can threaten the greats. As any tennis fan knows who has watched Serena's career, her performance in the French Open was abysmal by her standards. I'd like to see a final where they both are playing at their top level. We'll probably never get that because Serena's peak as a player came in the Wimbledon 2012-2013 period.
I see Muguruza winning 9 slams in total.

That little fact is so cool. It'll make Serena's last years so much more interesting for the fans if she can't dominate consistently and has someone in the draw who can take her out.
I actually think it could be good for Serena, who is missing that competitive edge lately as she goes for records.

Muguruza doesn't seem like a great to me. Vika could've been without the injuries. There's NO ONE who looks like a 5+slam winning player right now let's be real.

The video never was a fan of Vika but she had a huge potential and I liked her game, these recent starlets ain't cutting it.
Aga might get her 1st slam.

I agree with FBF Muguruza is not it. Too wildly inconsistent
She wrecked the field at the French only to lose 1st round next tournament. Her results all year have been piss poor outside of the French actually. And believe it or not she's a bad grass court player who only got there by playing hacks
She's not a bad player but it's not exactly passing of the torch just yet. If she makes the SF or further at Wimbledon we'll talk. I doubt she makes it out of the first week though

Muguruza will probably get an easy draw @ Wimbledon, seems to be her M.O.
Poor Venus, those 5-8 seeds were so wack. She will have a much tougher time with the 9-12s...

If the weather doesn't suddenly decide to fix up, Wimbledon will be a bit chaotic. It's not looking good in terms of warm, clear days that would favor aggressors like Muguruza - I reckon she will be lucky to make the quarters tbh.

Is it raining or something?
@Ledex right. Halep, Vinci, Bencic, etc all there who Venus could mop the floor with . Though to be fair Kvitova is a shadow of her former self and Keys can't beat Venus on grass, the only two seeds in 9-12 that I'd be super afraid of

Yeah, we are being lashed with rain. On two occasions this month, a month's rainfall has fallen in a few hours.
The roof will help obvi but there's only so much play on one court.

The last time the roof was closed, someone had an asthma attack, and got flipped out of QF.

Disagree. Muguruza played two GREAT matches against Kerber and Radwanska, who are great grass-court players.
