I used to be one of those "!Talent1!! Vocals!!1" *****s but as I got more into k-pop, I stopped caring and realised virtually anyone can deliver a good song if it's worked and branded to fit them.
I do wonder why Twice get so much flak for their vocals. In the studio, they sound fine, there's no powerhouse or anything but Twice have never pretended they were that type of group. In live performances, it's pointless as a k-pop fan to care that much about lip-synching anyway, as long as it's not that bad (i.e. some of Tiffany's IJWD stages), there can still be great performances being delivered.
There have been other groups in the same vocal league as Twice before, but none seem to have gotten quite the level of Hate that Twice get.
YG is not gonna try to catfish Korea like it's clear YG groups will left out to dry at the drop of a dime (see Bom's crucifixion). If any of these girls are ugly irl, I'm sure we would know by now
But YG does photoshop their artists just like any other company
I didn't even know that was Park Bom
Her normally for comparison:
I mean I still find her a bit attractive normally, but all companies photoshop heavily so we need to see videos and irl pics before we decide.

Bom's photoshop is called plastic surgery. And that was a magazine photoshoot.
I actually think YG's showing them in a very raw way compared to any other company. Many fans didn't like Jisoo's pics, for instance, because she looked better in basically any other promo she's had (CFs and MV appearances).

That's the problem, they don't.
At least T-ara, or 4MINUTE always managed to somewhat sounds good on Studio.

They...don't sound good in studio though. Plus I can't think of any company has been brave enough to debut a 9+ member group with as little collective vocal or even dance talent as Twice, so I'm wondering who these groups you speak of are.
That said, as a Britney stan, I bear no ill-will toward them, but it'd be nice if they had better music to compensate.

Taeyeon's album allegedly is meant to help with ScreaM's commercial legitimacy, with people from that brand being involved in production.
d so that explains why LDN Noise is working with her and she has a dance song with Hyoyeon

I just feel like lip syncing is much more acceptable when you know the artist could sing it live if they had to, and are doing so perhaps to focus on the choreography or performance aspects, or maybe to preserve vocals. Its why not many Beyonce fans care about her lip syncing. Twice just can't really make that excuse. The same could probably be said about acts like Kara, its true, but they got away with it more because they sounded a lot better in the studio then Twice do. Jihyo & Nayeon can't even hit the notes in the Cheer Up chorus and half of them sound out of tune
Also live performances aside, don't underestimate the importance of a good vocal performance in a pop song. You need a good main vocalist to carry a strong chorus.

Yeah, that's what I figured when I heard her title track will have a tropical house feel. SM wants Korea to warm up to the EDM, so they pulled out their biggest weapon.
TWICE are pretty, have catchy singles and fun personalities. Sometimes you need a bit of that in the mix. I mean if you compare an act like Katy Perry to her peers, she falls short but ppl still love her and she's successful. I agree with Kingie and Kamren, talent/quality is main priority to me but in k-pop, you eventually come to accept that you won't get that all the time lmao
Taeyeon is NOT going to flop lol she still has hype from I. She will do well first week regardless of how the song is (kinda how 4minute Whatcha Doin Today did well first week). But if the song is horrible it'll fall. + she's still gonna sell another 80k physically lmao. She's good this comeback.
