1. Big Brother appeals more to gay men and straight women (although that's debatable) than Survivor does (Survivor does have their fair share of gay and especially female fans though). Since ATRL is dominated mostly by gay males and straight females, I don't think it's that surprising that ATRL loves BB more.
2. Like Brooke-Lynn said, there's more content. Big Brother airs as it's filming and we get live feeds so we're literally posting as we watch things happen in the house. There are simply more things to post about BB compared to Survivor which is filmed over a 39 day period months before it airs and when it does air, it's only once a week.
3. Since Survivor is filmed months before it airs, there's a chance that spoilers about the boot order and winner will get leaked before or while the season is airing, the most recent example being the last All-Stars season back in September. I think a lot of posters have decided to avoid posting in the thread because of that.
I do agree that Survivor is better though. If you had asked me a few years ago, I would have said BB was better but these last few seasons have been the pits while Survivor has been consistently slaying since S28 (bar S30 - WA). Most of that has to do with casting though, Survivor is more willing to cast outside of stereotypes than BB is and their casts are usually older than BB which leads to a more mature cast and, more importantly, stronger women. Not to mention, there's usually more diversity in race (although not by much).
