The camera following Jon on the ground was extremely effective. I don't have a fear of a being buried alive, nor did I think for a second that he was going to die, but when he was nearly suffocating from the pileup of bodies, I found myself breathing erratically. They shot Jon's perspective so well when he was being trampled, I started to feel claustrophobic myself. Awful.
That one long unbroken shot of Jon in the middle of hell on earth was incredible. Like some Saving Private Ryan level ****. When he fought his way back up and finally breathed. Beautiful shot. It looked like he was reborned again.
What I'm disappointed most about is that Snow didn't earn this victory. I love my baby Jon but he ****ed up. It's not enough that he hacked a few foot soldiers. Sansa warned him about making mistakes; he made them anyway without thinking; and he still won. There are plenty of executions of this episode where he actually earns the win. But I guess this show is always just shy of making sense.
Jon's whole battle plan was thrown out the window b/c he didn't listen to Sansa.

Charging out in the middle of the field like a total idiot? He should've waited to draw Ramsay's men into the entrenchments that he said they'd dug ahead of their front lines to keep themselves from getting surrounded, like exactly what happened once they ran out into the middle of the field like a bunch of total idiots?
She literally told him Rickon was a dead man and Ramsay would lure in Jon, which is EXACTLY what happened.
Sansa:
"Hey, Jon? Listen to me: He is GOING to provoke you. Rickon is already dead. The dude had his way with me for weeks, or months, who can keep track of time in this world; I met Theon after Ramsay had him, and the man you and I knew was both dead and gone, lost behind empty eyes. Okay? HEAR ME OUT ON THIS. "
Jon:
"But I'VE BEEN NORF OF THE WALL"
Ok lemme give him a break, it's his little brother getting killed in front of him, given that he's probably going to be one of our main endgame heroes, I was just a little disappointed by how easily he was duped. He went full Ned Stark. You never go full Ned Stark.
