A good article about what you look for first in a VP selection. I've been saying this from the beginning as well, you must have chemistry for it to work. Having someone you constantly butt heads with or at odds with one another isn't productive nor healthy.
How Should Hillary Clinton Choose a Running Mate? Start With Chemistry

The contenders most frequently mentioned by her advisers and senior Democrats close to the campaign include Senator Michael Bennet, from the key state of Colorado; Thomas E. Perez, President Obama’s secretary of labor and a Hispanic civil rights lawyer; Representative Xavier Becerra of California; and Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner, both former governors from Virginia. Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts is a favorite of liberal Democrats, though an all-female ticket is unlikely. All of these candidates have relationships with Mrs. Clinton, and several have appeared with her at campaign events.

Although she is at ease with younger hopefuls like Mr. Castro, Mrs. Clinton has also relished policy conversations with Mr. Perez, a favorite of labor unions, her advisers said. (Senator Harry Reid, Democrat of Nevada, has expressed concern that selecting Mr. Brown would leave a vacancy in the Senate that a Republican would probably be appointed to fill.)
|
She's definitely picking either Sherrod Brow, Tim Kaine, or Tom Perez. I'm pretty confident in this. Those 3 have been my top 3 for some time now. I love how her and Tom are policy wonks. Sherrod having a Republican governor may hurt his bid. The Senate needs his spot because while we may flip some seats in November, we must be able to sustain all Dem seats, if possible. That's what hurts Brown and Warren so much, both have Republican governors in their states who would appoint a GOP replacement if they vacated their seats for the Veep position.
I'm not oppose to Elizabeth Warren, but having her on the ticket is like having Bernie on the ticket, attention-wise. As stated in the article,
Quote:
|
“You never want a vice president that makes people start to think, ‘Boy, it’s a shame he or she isn’t at the top of the ticket,’” said David H. Mandel, an executive producer of the show. “It’s that magical balance.”
|
And looking at her fans and the press, they love to steer the talk in her direction. I do think she's actively going out her way to be on the ticket. Dropping by the Brooklyn Headquarters for a pep talk to Hillary's young staff, stopping by studios for interviews and such. She wants the job, that's obvious. Her opportunity for POTUS has passed because she the next time comes, she'll be really old and will have to decide if her time has passed or not.
Honestly? I think Tom Perez is the guy she's looking for. There is no Senate complications. You have a respected young progressive among the Democratic ranks. He's young (politician-wise) and may connect with younger voters. He's beloved by labor unions, which will be big in the rust belt states for the general. He's a Latino who actually speaks fluent Spanish (not a knock on Castro, but this helps); Telemundo and Univision can actually do full on interviews in spanish (huge advantage). Most of all, Hillary likes the guy and they can be policy geeks together

John Kasich would appoint Brown's replacement (to serve out his term- until 2018 ) No chance.
Kaine -wonderbread, next.
Perez- even uglier than Castro, with less executive experience.

Optics, sis.
As for Kaine, he's good on paper (prob the most qualified tbh). But good luck generating excitement with a straight boring white male on the ticket.

Does anyone think Louisiana and other Southern states are legitimately in play? I just can't see it at the moment.
I am worried Trump may pick off Ohio and/or Pennsylvania though. The numbers are too close to comfort.

Yes. If AA and Hispanic voter turnout is high enough and Hillary does extremely well with them (which she will), there is a chance a few might flip. It's not very likely, but the chance is there.

As a Louisianan? Yes, we have a great shot of doing so. In the primaries, Hillary's total votes was almost equaled that to of the entire GOP field. We have more registered Democrats than Republicans, but it's the independents that sway the elections. We go blue for plenty of positions, from Governors to Senators. The biggest factors to pull off a victory here is mobilizing the Orleans Parish votes. With a great turnout there along with cities like Baton Rouge and Shreveport, she can do it. Ignoring the state won't work if she wants to flip us.

I would vote for either one. Though the diverse one looks more appealing as well. If anything, I think the name meshing is more important. Clinton/Castro isn't a cute look or ring for example, but Clinton/Perez has a nice ring to it.

Great, now Hillary is gonna be forced into a corner about making Elizabeth her VP pick.
Wall Street donors seek to block Warren VP pick
How convenient that this "leaks" into the media. Knowing good and well, if Hillary now passes on Elizabeth Warren, it's because "she's beholden to the big banks." The insufferable populists of the unreasonable left will cry foul play to the high heavens. UGH.
If people would be honest with themselves, you KNOW Hillary and Elizabeth will not get along like a Bill and Al Gore or a Joe and Obama. If it was a Loretta Lynch or Kirsten Gillibrand, it would work, but those two would clash early and often. I want a functionable and enjoyable relationship between HRC and her right hand. That's the main reason that I just can't get behind a Clinton/Warren ticket.

But, if I could see Clinton and Warren do a campaign event together, it would be easier for me to decide whether or not they would be able to have good chemistry. I don't think there's enough evidence that they would have terrible chemistry atm.

5 Reasons Why Eric Garcetti Won't Be Vice President by LA Weekly
Quote:
|
Even when Garcetti did endorse Clinton last year, he did it in the most awkward way possible – sending out an email announcing the endorsement, sending out another email retracting the endorsement reading, "Today’s statement on Hillary Clinton was sent in error,” then sending out a third email re-endorsing her.

Pocahontas, the one who lied about her heritage?
Don't need Queen of the Liars and her prodigy BOTH running for office, jeez.
