I don't even know what a smogon is before X&Y. It got me into so many things (Competitive battling, shiny hunting etc) before that I didn't even know these kind of communities exist. I just assumed people play the game as is (finish the story line and that's it)

I had no idea about the meta.

Now I know different communities (Breeders, Battlers, Shiny Hunters, Etc)

Woo I remember the good sis Bryan (where he at) helped me complete the National Dex We traded for like 3 hours straight. Got a shiny charm and everyting. First time ever for me.

Well, before X&Y, I hadn't played any main series game since Crystal. So, a lot of **** I missed out on.

I'm thinking I might buy Sun digitally now so I can have it when midnight strikes.

Then I can pick up Moon later the next day. I'll probably play through Sun once and keep all of my good Pokemon and competitive teams and such there, and Moon would be the copy that I keep doing mono run throughs and such on.

Sometimes i wished i didn't tho. Cause after that i started to care way too much about IVs, EVs and Nature and i stopped catching everything and just using it for fun

I haven't gotten into competitive battling, but I admit that community has spoiled my experience of the games a little.

I appreciate the depth of the mechanics - but I find myself caring way too much about natures now. Before I knew they affected stats, I would just catch Pokemon with natures I thought complimented their design. For example, a timid Ralts, a Jolly Ludicolo, a Calm Absol or an Impish ghost Pokemon. Soft resetting for natures & EV training is a chore that spoiled the magic for me.

Yeah no sorry the competitive scene kinda majorly sucks all things considered. The amount of work required to get six pokemon with 31 IVs in every stat, optimal EV distribution, the right ability (Hidden in some cases), and the right nature isn't really worth it to me when other people just cheat their way to that team and spam the same eight OU Pokemon on every team. No ma'am.
