For me, it's the span of her discography. It's not like she made all these hits in the first 2 years of her career and fizzled out. It's been 10 years of consistency.
She won't be the kind of legend who gets into the RnR: Hall of Fame or be featured in history books. But her persona has a staying power I can't explain. She's Rihanna. And no one else or could ever be. She's unique. Not just one of those flop RnB girls. She'll definitely be referenced.

Her entire career is focused on getting hits so irs not surprising that she managed to excel in it especially with Jay Z's help. She never had to spend time focusing on dancing, singing, her artistry, etc her label would send her songs and she'd pick them out "like shoes" slap some terrible vocals on let the producer turn her into a vocalist then go out and promo
The two times she tried to flex her chops as boss, rated r and anti, she flopped and had to resort to gimmicks to survive (Loud with 0 input generic terrible music and a deal with a cellphone company to buy her album)[
