no where did I say all black people have HIV.

I am merely stating the studies that show black MSM have a 1 in 2 risk. 1 in 2 is not a great number. It is essentially flipping a coin. Until they find a cure for HIV, I am not very interested in taking 1 in 2 chances for getting an incurable lifetime disease. I am not even comfortable having sex with men in general, which already puts me at the 1 in 4 category.

ATL is mostly black people. Mecca for gay blacks. Hiv is already ravaging the gay black community. Gay blacks are already notorious for the lack of condom usage. This comes as no shocker

that's easy in a relationship, but if I'm at a bar or on an app, I'm not going to prick him for a blood sample and get back to him in a week after the test results are negative

and condoms arent completely foolproof

They're 97% safe I guess. Then if something goes wrong you can get PrEP.

I don't think that's how everyone makes decisions Maybe I just have different priorities than you. For me, sex is kinda just the extra cherry on top of a nice week. It's not something I look forward to getting from a different stranger every night. And I definitely prioritize not taking drug cocktails every day. I know HIV is not as bad as it use to be, and I don't mean to stigmatize anyone who has it, but I don't want to get it, simple as that.

It's like how I don't have to stigmatize fat people to say that I don't ever want to be obese.

Anyway, I think the fear or stigma of HIV has many people afraid of getting tested or having the discussion. There's also the cost of treatment. As been said before, there's also lack of awareness - I'm not talking about lack of sex education but lack of knowing what HIV really is.

i'm not afraid of dying from it. I'm more afraid of the burdens of having to take 8-10 pills every day for the rest of my life and having to have a talk with any new partners I get for the rest of my life that I have this disease and being afraid of being rejected or cold-shouldered. I don't fear a virus. I fear what that virus will do to a life I've gotten used to.

They're still not entirely safe and if someone doesn't want to have sex with an HIV+ for this reason, they shouldn't be attacked for it.
