Yea its lyrically and sonically a generic bro country song. Just because a song is "left field" in the context of beyonces discography does not make it innovative

I'm not even saying it's left field. But I live in Texas and am exposed to a lot of bro country. And a lot of it is really Nelly'd and hip-hop'd. One of my faves (but absolutely bro-country) is...
But it's nothing similar to the jazzy, blues, folk undertones of Daddy Lessons.
Alls I'm saying is it's lazy classification. None of the country people even wanted to claim it at first cause it sounds like nothing on their radios.

Daddy Lessons is cute because it's Bey, it's a typical Miranda Lambert song lyrically tbh
Lyrically it's also a typical Beyonce song. The thing the differentiates it is it's blues and jazz undertones. There's no electric guitar or heavy drums. It's very twangy and more along the lines of folk.
Trust. I hear a lot of country everyday, and nothing like this is on country radio now. You can look up and down and won't find anything.
