The pokemon revealed are tragic, but the early ones always are, so i'm not really annoyed, hopefully the last stage of the bug and bird are cool and unique. The rodent thing is gross.
OMG y'all, that Topo Koko thing or whatever it was called is actually a Pokemon, just rewatched the clips and Hala says: "...and each island has its own guardian Pokemon", I don't think Solgaleo and Lunala count as two of them, I think it's gonna be like the legendary trio but instead we get a group of 4 this gen. I think the first one might be in the forest, one in the volcano, one in the snowy mountains or desert on the last island and one in that big tree on the island where u catch Solgaleo/Lunala.
I like the new Pokémon a lot. Yungoos is ugly cute, more memorable than most of the recent early rodents. Pikipek is cute, I wonder if it'll stay a Normal-type. Grubbin is funny, and its entry on the website makes it sound like it'll become Electric/Bug, which is super cool. (Galvantula better watch ha scalp.) Battle Royal is a cute idea, that'll be a lot of fun. I could see them incorporating that into a Gym Battle, a mix between the twins in Hoenn and the Triplets in Unova.
What I really love about this game is the amount of detail in every area. More than any other generation, the Alola region has such personality and a real culture. Them putting this effort into the world building is so great to see. I'm surprised so see them unafraid to revamp some things. The UI looks so slick, and the new features they added like the changed stats are such smart ideas and so nice to have. This is going to be the best game in the franchise by far, I'm really impressed.
And Hala mentions that the player has already met the first guardian. Maybe that's why they didn't start right at the beginning of the game during the livestream, cuz u see the first guardian (Ash seeing Ho-Oh teas)

I didn't feel so optimistic at this time when they revealed the first pokemon for Gen 5 and Gen 6 so I'm pumped
