Gen 6 was actually a step in the right direction, with only a few Pokemon having only 1 typing, and they were cute like Meowstick and Gogoat, though some others couldn't be excused since they were absolute trash like Avalugg, Florges, Aromatisse and Slurpuff.
I'm hoping they'll keep improving in this regard, anyway.
