I honestly think her label is smart for waiting so long to release the video. The song is #19 on Overall Airplay and will be Top 10 soon. I say if they release the video in a few weeks it will be perfect timing to coincide with the airplay. What is Interscope playing at though? I'm sure they want BEP and GAGA to peak at #1 so why not get the Imma Be video out NOW?? Some lables

Then Telephone will be verging on 800k before it's peak as well, her sales just won't be condensed into a short period like they need to be for a high peak.

Heck we're talking almost 3million will have the song already by the time it needs to peak.

I'm the opposite, I don't care about Album sales anymore because they are so much lower than they used to be. In a few years albums will more than likely be irrelevant, eventually they will probably be discontinued. It's a very aged form of releasing music.

I don't think Telephone will sell as well as Bad Romance, but I don't think it will have to in order to get to number one. It's airplay will be very high by the time sales peak. I just want the video to be released to see what is going to happen, I'm still hoping for a number one.

album sales are still important ... if a singer sells more than 5 millions it means that people love his music

it's easy to sell 5 millions of a single especially if radios play the song ad nauseam..

singers like britney or madonna are still important because THEIR albums sell very well..

this is my opinion... i think that if an album is good people are happy to buy it...

I think digital ep's (5 or so songs) will replace Albums in the near future, I don't think the single will totally take over. Albums are just not suited to the digtial era, hence they are declining year on year.

I think part of the decline of the album's sales can be accounted to the availability of the album tracks for downloads on iTunes instead of having a carrier single being deployed for purchase.

This really is hurting artists. When they're not making albums, it's less songs for the fan to listen to, less promo, and why bother buying a 5-song EP when you can buy the singles or illegally download. The death of albums will be the plummet of sales in the music industry. And if that happens, my life will be over. I'll die without music.

Album sales this same time last year were about the same. I believe the whole year has actually been about the same as last year. Like 5% drop or something like that. I just read it, let me see if I can find it.

Album sales dropped only 5% in January versus the same period in 2009, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It's only one month, but that marks a far better performance for the month in recent years.

If the last three years are any indication, the album may fare relatively well in 2010. As the numbers below show, January can be a harbinger of the album's performance over the next 11 months.

January 2007:
-15% (for four-week period ending January 28), albums ended 2007 down 15%

January 2008:
-12% (for five-week period ending February 3), albums ended 2008 down 14%

January 2009:
-12% (for five-week period ending February 1), albums ended 2009 down 11%

January 2010:
-5% (for four-week period ending January 31)

If already the year was really on ly at -5%, it would be fantastic in effect !

That shows just how bad the album market is doing, a 5% drop is never a good thing. I guess it shows that sales are not free-falling like they once were. In the UK Album sales fell by 4% last year, which isn't too bad. Still a decline though

Not really...the fact that it was falling so big the last 3 years is bad. Of course a decline is never a good thing, but we've BEEN in decline. So the good/positive thing about the 5% drop is it's a much lighter drop than before. It's an improvement, so say. Maybe if it keeps up, next year album sales will become stable.
