Yes, I know that it's about being cunning and self aware to an extent where one can seamlessly navigate through obstacles and challenges but I still don't see it as a more difficult type of intelligence to achieve than traditional book smarts.
Being cunning and self aware can happen in a middle class/upper class upbringing.
I think it's a term for people that were not raised with a lot to feel proud when they achieve things that many that didn't have as much of a struggle but still had to use their brain power and critical thinking skills can achieve without it being about hustling.
It's just called being smart and thinking things through.
Pop stars don't need street smarts to have commercial success. Adele's entire image is not "street smart" and Gaga's weirdness during her peak was nothing close to being street smart or relatable. It always all comes down to how good the music is. Tacky memes that fade away in days is not a requirement for commercial success.
