Ed Sheeran has previously credited 'Photograph' with helping him achieve international success, but it's also now opened him up to a $20 million lawsuit.
The new claim alleges that the track copies Matt Cardle's song 'Amazing'. The plaintiffs are the track's writers Martin Harrington and Thomas Leonard, and they're represented by attorney Richard Busch, who was the lawyer for the Marvin Gaye family in their case against 'Blurred Lines'.
It includes "verbatim, note-for-note copying" from 'Amazing', with the complaint suggesting that the songs share 39 identical notes in pitch, rhythmic duration and placement in the measure.
