I couldn't care less about who was cast for that play but let's not all sit here and pretend that Hermione was never supposed to be white.
Sure it was never explicitly mentioned whether Hermione was black or white, but I'm pretty sure that if Hermione was supposed to be black, Rowling would've told the casting directors that she
had to be black.
She did have a say in a lot of things and was there to make sure that they got everything right after all.
I'm 99% sure that she wouldn't let them cast a white girl if she had a black girl in mind, especially considering that Hermione is one of the main characters.
So that whole "white skin was never specified" act she's pulling now is kinda ******** imo.
Having said that, I do think that it's great that they cast a black woman to portray Hermione.
