I was just watching Empire and it hit me why Meghan flopped!
People said "oH! Old school! Destiny's Child throwback!" and all that, but her recent songs were sounding like proper knockoffs. They were constructed along the same cheesy lines as Empire songs. Absolutely abysmal production value and musical effort (at least that's what the final results indicated).

But then I'm not sure why Ari flopped. DW album is soooo good.
