I agree that Ashley and Vanessa's sales were not in the league of Miley's or Hilary's but pitiful was just a tad harsh IMO. That is why I got so annoyed.

it just seems when something seems to right for her, something else just comes up and it goes to $hit and when it goes to $hit she has a lot of people that can't wait to bash her...luckly her ONTD posts have gotten much better (I think because she was in Canada for 6 months)
I do think that Vanessa could have been a little more interested when it came to her music career but I think part of it had to do with the fact she always thought of herself as an actress so she was never 100% devoted to music like you need to be in order to be successful. I hope she goes back to music, but with her getting decent movie offers now I doubt she will even make another album anytime soon. Like Hilary Duff fans, I think Vanessa fans are in for a long wait when it comes to another album. I hope I get an album soon but all signs are telling me that its going to be a long wait.
As for Ashley,
I do feel bad for Ashley because I do think she wanted Guilty Pleasure to succeed but she/her record company messed up by not having her first single be more like her old sound. I do think that her album could have performed better if Crank It Up was the first single since the sound was closer to HSSS. Her record company should have paid attention to downloads and then chosen a 2nd single then. They could have gotten a better idea to see if people liked the change in her sound. Plus Ashley took a long time off from acting to work on her album and promote it and the album just bombed in the US. And because of that, I think she really hurt her acting career.
I would also like to add, that Ashley's management team and especially her PR person SUCKS! Her last decent magazine cover in the US was Cosmo and that was over 1 year ago. She filmed no movies in 2009 and the only movie she has lined up now is a remake of Sleeping Beauty called Sleepless Beauty that most likely will not even be out until 2011. She is co-starring with Meg Ryan but the movie isn't even supposed to go into production until late February. I honestly hope she books something else more adult soon because she is going to get bashed if she is 25/26 and is still promoting teen movies while her other HSM costars that are 2-3 years younger than her have moved on to more adult projects.
I hope Ashley can make it beyond Disney, but right now it just seems like her team is messing everything up. Nobody knows the future and I do think Ashley is talented ( so she can make it) but tons of talented people are lining up behind her ready to take her place. I just hope her team gets off the backsides and starts doing something for her.
She needs to take a break from music. She needs to make a name for herself in the acting world and then return with a dance-pop album
