I think it's because that's one of the few records that Beyonce most likely will maintain and for some reason they feel Ariana is a threat.

I mean even with 3 #1 albums debuting that doesn't mean Beyonce won't have her future albums debut at #1 and it also doesn't mean Ariana could get anymore #1 debut albums.

Many females have released 5 or 6 albums and many of them don't have 5 or 6 #1s even if they started out with #1s.

It does show how some Beyonce stans are overly concerned about a record that isn't even within reach.

I think Drake might get this one.

Had streaming only counted for Hot 100 which would actually make it tougher for recurrent songs as album tracks could easily occupy spots 75-100 without promotion but also show that songs that are overplayed by radio just won't remain on the charts due to radio payola...

Let me just say one thing. I'm not saying that Rih would have sold a lot more albums without the free giveaway (just a few copies, not a million for sure) but you can't say that a leak isn't nothing different from an artist sharing an official link to dowload the album for free

You can listen to an album without buying it LEGALLY... which means the album is POPULAR. Which also means money for the labels and artists.

I dont think there is any question that if an album is beng streamed 100.000.000 times in a week... that means the album is CLEARLY MORE POPULAR than one that is streamed 5.000.000 times.

Even if its sales are not as big, nowadays everyone has FULL ACCESS to the music they wanna hear. And the same way one chooses to buy an album, they choose who they want to stream too.

If Ariana's or Blake's album was that successful as you guys point out (as their sales are bigger than Drake) wouldnt that mean they would be equally adding those streams??

Its like denying everyone checked Kanye's new album when it was available... even if its sales werent there... the album was the most popular that week, and most of all... GENERATED THE MOST REVENUE.

and slw84 also, streaming songs is perfect for Hot100, and streaming itself is the presence and has no doubt hindered the piracy, and use it for 95% of music music consumption, but it's just not right to count streamed songs as album sales, or it should atleast be weighed down.
sales are the pits? yeah ofc (except for my fave) but that's how it is. in lots of countries they lower certification levels just...

anyway, for an album to sell 80k less than the best seller, bit still top the albums chart, should be a sign that something is wrong

You're fighting a losing (actually an already lost) battle. SPS will never be taken out of the equation and will likely become a larger piece of the BB 200 formula. I don't know what streaming ever did to you, but it's an accurate view of what people are paying for (since on-demand streams are what counts) and isn't going away.

Whether you like it or not, the #1 album on the Billboard 200 is the most-popular album of the week.
