It's also interesting that they're going with Kuze from Season 2 of the anime tv show as their main antagonist. I would've liked if they involved the Laughing Man, but that's probably delving too much into the theoretical and Western audiences gravitate towards the "Scarlett! Explosions! SJWs are lucky that all the movies that were accused of whitewashing (The Lone Ranger, Aloha, Pan, Exodus) were all bad movies and were going to flop regardless. If the movie is actually good, I really doubt audiences will care about the controversy, at least not enough to harm the box-office

Interesting. I can see how exciting it must be when something mainly Japanese is exported to become a global phenomenon (Yu-gi-oh!) and as long as they're being respectful of the culture, there really isn't a problem to them. It might also have to do with the cultural differences between say, Japanese in Japan and Japanese American representation in America. It's always a bigger issue in America.

Very interesting. I once spent some time reading heated debates about the whitewashing of character features in anime. Most westerners seem to perceive anime characters as white people, though it seems (most) Japanese perceive them as Japanese.
