Tom, I saw the Vektor cover the other day when Pitchfork reviewed it and loved it. Haven't listened though. I've been super busy recently. Will check out as soon as possible.

Tom, Bloomers and others, recommend me some essential metal albums please. The only bands I listened to were Deafheaven and Baroness
Brodka's album is not necessirely bad, rather lackluster or uneventful. It's different (by different I mean worse) than her previous work.
And I'm glad so many people stan for Jessy I'm actually seeing her live this Saturday

Those are great albums! If you liked Baroness (i stan hard for them), you'd love the Kvelertak album.
I'm not really great at digesting newer albums right away, it takes me some time to sit with them and process them, but I like Cobalt's newest that Tom mentioned.
Some older ones from the past couple years I enjoy:
Ecstatic Vision's Sonic Praise from last year rocks hard in a psychedelic way and it really works great as an album. Blut Aus Nord's The Desanctification is a personal fave of mine (it's slower and not as aggressive. I know metal's loudness can be a turn-off), Royal Thunder's CVI has this sludgy southern classic rock vibe I really love (the band is also probably my favorite female fronted metal band).
there are so many quality metal albums

It just might be the most high quality genre.

Try any one of Mastodon's first 4 albums, and then Blackwater Park by Opeth.

I strongly endorse these also. I've been a huge Mastodon stan since my dad gave me a copy of Blood Mountain in 2006. I also caught Mastodon on tour, the show was probably the best show I have ever seen.
I'd say Mastodon's discography is a must for any music fan. Opeth is great also, and don't sleep on Gorguts.
