Since we're talking 25 earlier I still can't get over how much I dislike Send My Love.

1)
Hello - overplayed, as usual but it's still a pretty decent song in hindsight. Lyrically it's basic yet somehow it works.
2)
Send My Love (To Your New Lover) - I can’t bare it. It’s so exhaustingly annoying to listen to. Skip.
3)
I Miss You - I like this musically and think it's incredibly underrated. One of my highlights.
4)
When We Were Young - easily my favourite from the album. This is just exceedingly relatable to me. It sounds like it belongs in Toy Story tbh,
5)
Remedy - This song is painfully sombre and goes nowhere. Lyrically, it’s cheesy in a lot of places. I like the sentiments of it though.
6)
Water Under The Bridge – it’s been a few months now and I still can’t figure out what this song reminds me of. As a song I like it but lyrically it’s just so basic.
7)
River Lea – probably the strongest song when it comes to writing. It wasn’t a song I liked at first but it’s grown on me since I first heard it.
8)
Love In The Dark – aww. I like her voice on this, I’ll say that.
9)
A Million Years Ago – Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. I feel like it was playing n The Godfather for some reason. Everything about this song is a +1 for me. I think I wrote the better "getting old" song though

, but slay me Adele.
10)
All I Ask – Drag those tears down my cheeks, Ms Adkins. The simple piano arrangement that accompanies it is just beautiful.
11)
Sweet Devotion – I’m not one for songs about an artist’s children. It just screams gimmicky to me. But this song has one of my favourite lines. “I find it funny that you're the only
one I never looked for”. And to be honest, as sickening as it is, it’s a pretty nice listen. Sickingly sweet.
12)
Can’t Let Go – I’m surprised this wasn’t on the standard. Mariah has the better Can’t Let Go

.
13)
Lay Me Down – k. Target can keep it. Cute vocals in the first verse I guess. And then the whole song just deteriorates. That chorus should not have been approved.
14)
Why Do You Love Me? – Cute.
Overall, I’m going to echo what some of the criticism regarding the album was – it’s just safe. Too safe. She doesn’t cover new ground lyrically. If anything it’s a little too formulaic. And considering that she has gone through so much since the 21 album, I just thought the quality of the lyrics would be better than they are. I mean they’re a B- on this album but I was expecting an A.
Some songs are lyrically stuff that I’ve heard before in a ton of other songs. But then she has awesome songs like River Lea, A Million Years Ago that prove me wrong. Now that the “matching 21” pressure is off her, maybe she’ll come stronger with the next album as she no longer has to prove herself.
