Okay, I'm just back from the screening. The cast were there, which was amazing. Singer introduced the film. We got to see them all up close!
The movie... is good. It's really good. It's really well paced, it has three very clear and solid acts that each deliver and then some. The climax at the end is ****ing amazing. Quicksilver's scene is amazing (and the choice of music slays!). The intro is the most epic any X-Movie has ever done.
Standout performances: Jennifer (honestly) as Mystique, Sophie as Jean Grey, Oscar as Apoc and McAvoy as Xavier.
Standout scenes (not spoiling anything as these are in the trailer): Magneto in Poland, The Angel/Nightcrawler clip we've all seen is way better and longer in the movie, Psylocke against Beast in Cairo, Xavier against Apoc in their minds, Jean...
For ATRL: Mall scene is there (but I think quite cut down from what it originally was) and the Angel V Nightcrawler fight is way longer and much better in the actual movie.
But I have to be honest. This ranks below DOFP for me. Reviews aren't kidding - this is
extremely CGI heavy and that doesn't pay off in all the major scenes. QS's scene was amazing, but this time around was so CGI-filled it lost some of what the last one had. He has more than just his big scene in this movie, too, which was great. Some Apoc and Psyclocke power scenes felt the same in that they weren't so believable because of the CGI, but both have incredible powers scenes too.
Okay, general things that are considered spoilers (but nothing that outright tells you anything):
On deaths
There are deaths... but perhaps not who you think.
On Jubilee
JUBILEE DOESN'T ****ING USE HER POWERS ONCE. She's basically a human staying at the mansion.
On Storm
Singer wrote Shipp's Storm just as he wrote Halle's - horrifically. She is the least-used and weakest horseman. You've more or less seen all her scenes in the clips apart from a few extra crackles and pops against Scott.
On Jean
The ending... how things get resolved... is epic. No doubt. And it sets up the next X-Movie.
