But it's a good point that language and lyrics are an integral part of musical experience. I personally love some artists in other languages, but that's not necessarily for everyone.
eh its not like the girls here are stanning for lyrical pioneers. and besides you can always translate lyrics
You have to compare Drake and Nicki by using a subjective measure. You can't just compare the two side by side.
What Nicki has managed to do as a female rapper is ridiculous. She's the first major female rapper to be accepted by the GP since Missy/Kim. And before you even start saying Nicki falls back on catchy hooks, most of Missy's hits have catchy little hooks between her raps so the white folk have something to sing to at the club. Nicki literally has been in the game for 6 years as a part of a marginalized genre of rap and made it work.
Drake has had immense success, but for a male RnB artist/Rapper he definitely hasn't reached to level of success that Usher/Nelly/Lil Wayne were experiencing at their peaks. He's performing well but he's not doing anything extraordinary.
the way starships is simultaneously her biggest hit but also almost ended her entire fcking career lol, but what nicki has achieved eclipses drake not even reaching lil wayne status like ?? shes a female rapper stop comparing her to drake
anyways
TPP era disappointed me, I thought she'd give us an album full of BAB remixes and LANs
One Dance without a music video, any promotion, or white washed tactics has outpeaked Starships nearly everywhere and it hasn't even reached it's peak yet.
Drake in 2016, is more global than Nicki ever was. One Dance #1 in US, France, UK, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, and Netherlands this Summer.
Also, Nicki avatars are ridiculously good. This has nothing to do with anything but it should be remembered that in addition to the brilliance exemplified by some of her tracks and her FLAWLESS pop contributions like Whip It, she occasionally hits us with the aesthetic of the gods.

He's performing well but he's not doing anything extraordinary. Of course he's going to sell well because he's literally the millennial answer to the aforementioned artists. Plus, not to pull the race card, but he definitely panders more to the white community than most in his field.
