The ARTPOP era in general was a mess, there was not a clear message, obviously big inside problems with her management, problems with herself, not a clear image, not a clear plan for the era, etc.

An era that sells around the same as ARTPOP given the context (another Top 10 album WW) + has a nice single or two, with a well carried era is going to be great in anybody's eyes aside of deluded people & OGH.

I mean I guess, but enlisting the help of people who wrote successful songs ten to twenty years ago is probably not going to be a commercially successful approach if they're going to be going for a contemporary sound. And working with Diane Warren is not going to be a successful approach if making good music is the primary goal.

Like Carly, Kimbra's music not the bling. A shame The Golden Echo falls a bit short on both fronts though.

Most of us don't care about the sales though, that's why Gaga still has plenty of fans here. Britney fans on the other hand all hide behind other artists & claim Britney as "one of their many faves" when in fact she's their main fave.
