It does to some extent I'm sure. But glossy productions and polished sounds don't necessarily make an album better or worse. It's the context in which they're used that dictate their effectiveness.
I guarantee "All Night" would not benefit from Halo/XO-like production. It's supposed to be a pop ballad w/ gritty blues undertones. It straddles the line between old sounds/clean production vey well.
Same with the filters used for Freedom and Don't Hurt Yourself. In fact, the erratic production on DHY help paint the emotional turbulence the song is supposed to convey. It's dirty, angry, mean, crazy. Etc.
