Tokenism. A non-offensive, lighter-skinned, privileged black woman. She's not problematic like Azealia; an activist like Janelle; a sex+ like Rihanna. She's just there. And she has been her entire career sans Formation.
I have never listened to a more complete and beautiful album such as ARTPOP. Seriously every single song is such an anthem, from Aura to the title track to Dope to Applause.. Wow, it really just hit me how ahead of its time this album is. The tracks are so different from one another, there is almost no cohesiveness in the album which is so amazing and it's incredible how she pulled that off so well. Honestly, the song ARTPOP makes me feel so emotional, the beat and the melody to it is just everything, the lyrics, the vocals. Then there's Aura, which is so so so so different from ANYTHING and hen G.U.Y. And then Jewels&Drugs... This woman seriously knows how express her feelings through music, you can hear her anger and all her emotions in each song. The album truly feels like an adrenaline trip. It takes you to a different time and place. I will never understand those who say that ARTPOP was a bad album, it is such a beautiful piece of work and I am so so so proud of Lady Gaga for making this. It is truly timeless.
